Salvage 80

I found a local salvage yard with a 94 FZJ80. I went there this afternoon to get the upgraded ECU for my 93 and also picked up a few small parts. It's maroon with front end damage, interior is pretty trashed (tan cloth) but if you need miscellaneous items it might be worth a try. Engine and tranny are gone, looks like no lockers on the rear end. I grabbed the ECU, the jack, some minor trim pieces and I finally snagged the small wiring harness for the rear plate lamp that I've had so much trouble finding.

It's at United Foreign Auto and Truck Parts on Somerset.

You're a little behind. That was the one I mentioned when you asked about the plate light harness. I can tell you who took the lower control arms, sun roof trim, exhaust, steering knuckles, and a few other things.....It's been whored out to a few of us. I almost bought the whole interior when it showed up last year but the guy is LOCO on prices, sadly now they are trash and worth nothing.....the owner is not the smartest business man.

I must have misunderstood or missed the post, or I would have been all over it. I managed to find some miscellaneous small parts that weren't worth the shipping from some of the online places, and I've had some bad luck with cruiserparts with the quality of stuff they ship so I like to take a look at things. SOR usually has some decent stuff, but their prices are stratospheric.
As far as the prices, the $250 for the ECU was a little more than some but less than most of the others(lowest was $100 in Phoenix, highest was $850,most were in the 250-350 range). Seeing as a new one retails for $1700 and I'm in a very narrow range for model eligibility (late 93/94 only) I imagine they're eventually going to be harder to find on the used market for a decent price. I also got the factory bottle jack, a few trim pieces, and the wiring harness for $25. I'm sure I could get a better deal for the ECU by waiting for a private seller, but that usually entails being in the right place at the right time.
Anyway, do you still have that JDM plate relocation bracket???

Nope, sorry the JDM plate went out to a guy in florida.

Yeah that 'cruiser almost went to A-1 Toyota just down the street from United but they lost the bid. I've done years of business with Mike at A-1 and had he got the 'cruiser I could had anything I wanted at near to nothing prices. The guys at United are just silly with prices but $250 for the ECU isn't so bad. It cost Brett like $80 for the steering knuckle that we didn't end up using. Oh well can't win them all I guess.

A very nice find! Do you see many JDM Cruisers in San Antonio? I am curious because I lived there for some years but now I live in Japan.

If you're talking about the front diff, I don't know, the axle is there but I didn't look far enough underneath to see how complete it is. The rear looked like it was in one piece, I was looking for the locker mechanism and it didn't look like it had one.

I did a search via this web-site:

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

and sorted by distance.

This wasn't a JDM Cruiser, if that's what you were asking...Bear80 had a JDM rear license plate relocation bracket that I was interested in. I don't think I've seen any JDM cruisers in any of my travels in the southwest, I think they're more prevalent in Canada. I'm sure there are some around, but the chances of a sighting are pretty rare, unless you go to one of the LC gatherings.

thanks Scott, I see now about the bracket. I can get them here in Japan if anyone needs one.
