Where did you find a smaller dryer?

Is the sight window showing bubbles/foam when the system is on? The a/c on these things aren't exactly ice machines down here. I'm sure you know that if the vent temps warm up at idle the fan clutch may need to be replaced.

IN the FAQ: http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...-ac-dryer.html

I started noticing it getting warm at boulder creek, not just at idle but all the time. Now it cools just mediocrely. Ill check for bubbles right now. thanks

I noticed the same thing on mine. Along with a coolant flush I did the Blue fan clutch mod. and filled the clutch with 7000 wt silicone oil. I have felt a noticeable difference on ac temp at idle and through out then engine rpm range. This would be a simple start on helping your ac blow colder.

I filled mine clutch with 6k fluid but honestly with my mpgs as they are I may just fill it with 8k fluid.

If you read some posts in tech, you'll find where I mention about the system freezing around the expansion valve when the system leaks down but not enough to notice the low system without gauges. A system pull down, expansion valve replacement and new quality r-134 would be in order then. BTW, quality r-134 makes a huge difference so try to obtain Suvla brand.

Ben i remember you saying when you first saw my truck that the fan clutch looked new. Is the "blue" something i can see easily?

As far as the AC goes I may just take it to the dealer alternative, i really don't feel like messing with it too much. In my records the expansion valve was replaced recently, IIRC it was about 20k ago.

After installing the JDM fan on the AC condenser, sitting in traffic or stopped on the trail is not an issue. The AC blows nice and cold. My truck never blew cold air when stopped if the outside temp was above 95.

JDM = Japanese Domestic Market. It's an electric pusher fan that attaches to factory mounting points on the 80 series Land Cruiser just in front of the AC condenser (just behind your front grill).

I bought mine from CDan but Mott may have some also. I don't know what they go for now but mine was $175 a year ago. Installation is pretty easy.
