you timeline is a bit off (you got that from toyota didnt ya?)...the ak10 was built during WWII ...toyota doesnt mention that at all...and they like to hide the fact that they were producing vehicles during the war as well as a number of other things...i got an archive document from a toyota employee many years ago...from PR in japan...i havent translated too myuch of it recently....but...i will be posting up every now and then from the begining of toyoda...till 2001? i think thats when the files end.

While working in the automotive industry, I found that many Japanese companies that were around WWII, are ashamed of what happened and what they did during the war.

Toyota just announced they're stopping the time line at 1997. I don't know why.

Because it's one of the Land Cruiser models. The FJ is built on the modified 120 series Prado foundation.
They are including it under the 'new' 90 series however in their booklet..... They did chop the 120 frame length. The Land Cruiser Prado is the 'new GX470 in the USA. The 90 is not imported.

Doesn't "Prado" mean, from the loins of a whale in Portuguese?

In Spanish, "Prado" means "Like a field"...... like a field of grass...

No really, I couldn't find the word 'land' anywhere on the truck (while driving it at Katemcy).

We scoured the truck, even looked by the vanity mirror, but there wasn't one of those either.

My Tundra has a 2UZ-FE.....a Land Cruiser motor.... A descendant of the FJ45's? Yes! Land Cruiser!

Prado translates to "like a field of grass". It's where you'll find grazing horses with blinders.

haha...I think you are on to something! Toyota owns 5.9% of Isuzu...does that mean that the Zu is a distant Toyota stepchild?

Plans to drop the Isuzu Duramax engine in the 2009 Tundra...

Diesel Toyota Tundra Likely in 2009 - AutoSpies Auto News

According to the aforementioned logic, that would make Isuzu a cousin to the Tundra, and since it has already been established that the Tundra is a descendant of the FJ45, wouldn't it be logical to say that the Isuzu is a 2nd cousin twice removed to the Land Cruiser. Just call it "Land Isuzu"

Doesn't need to be. Anyone who's been around Cruisers long enough should see the direct correlation between the new FJ and the 40. The FJ is the new 'short wheelbase' version of the Land Cruiser, with the name FJ throwing back to the 40. There are styling cues all over the FJC that 40 owners would recognise if they got inside one. It's not a 'new 40', and shouldn't be addressed that way. It's a modern, short wheelbase model.

I was merely point out that there is no "land" in FJ Cruiser. It's 'FJ Cruiser', not 'FJ Land Cruiser'.

Honestly though, I like the styling, it reminds me of a Tonka truck. Plus, it performed really well on the trail!

We are just giving you a hard time. =)

I actually liked mine a lot, and possibly in the next two to three years I'm thinking to get another one. Just not a 2007..... I wasn't happy about several factory issues that Toyota didn't want to own up to, and still don't as far as I know.

Prado

No, no no. "Prado" means, from the loins of a whale and a whore of a whale. I looked it up. It is Portuguese and it comes from the root latin, Stings the nostrils.

A Prado is made with real bits of whale, so you know its good.

The whale being the 80 or 100 sized 'whale' is what he means....

Any 4 wheel drive can be stuck... especially in the hands of an inexperienced driver. Most FJ owners don't know the history behind the vehicle, nor do they know how to drive it.

All I have to ask is: "Now what series number is the FJ Cruiser again.......??"

It doesn't matter what frame or body a potential vehicle has or shares with another, if Mr. T didn't give it a chrisened series number (I don't care what people try to make it out to be) then it an't no damn LAND CRUISER.

The LC soul = series number. Anything else is just a name and marketing ploys.

I like the FJC to an extent but it's like Scion, the basterd child of Toyota. Wouldn't it have funny if the FJC was sold as a Scion FJC or xC

It's all in good fun though. The FJC has done leaps for the LC community and growth of Toyota.
