NIOSA
Anyone going to NIOSA? A few of us are thinking about going Tuesday, the 22nd evening. Drink, eat, walk and watch silly stuff. A true San Antonio sport and requirement.

I went to NIOSA once a few years ago. One of the people who help put it on gave me some free tickets to go, so we went. I didn't really like it at all, it was mostly expensive cheap beer and a lot of scum bags running around drunk. Can't judge it by one run however...
Fiesta Oyster Bake was a different story. Lots of good food there to try, however quite expensive.
We really enjoy the Fiesta Flambeau (night) parade when we can catch it. My wife never goes if I am working.
I love the baked corn and turkey legs

For the Oyster Bake, does the admission include food, or does each vendor charge?

It sucks..... each vendor charges. It's all about money you know. The event is good, but money flying out the pocket as usual...

I've actually never bought oysters there but you do have to buy food and drink. It's a really good time and they tend to have a good band. It's very family friendly early in the day.
I'll probably skip Oyster Bake this year since I have some conflicts but I'm down for NIOSA, the night parade and maybe the King William parade.

I've worked NIOSA for the last 20 plus years. It has always been a blast. Yeah it's so crowded you can hardly move and there are plenty of drunks but hey, It's San Antonio!!!!! I do not spend alot of money because we swap food with the other food vendors and we are allowed to bring in coolers with food only but no one checks so we just stuff them full of beer and lay a little food on top.

Well I will go with Kevin and Brett's reviews. If it doesn't rain, I will bite the bullet and go Tuesday night. I just hope I don't get separated from the group and left behind. Do they have a lost and found for tourists??

I was thinking about going to the Oyster bake - I love seafood, but I was handed a pink slip 2 weeks ago. So, splurging on expensive food is not practical at this point. Next year.

kelly make sure you wear something loud so you will be easily found like a somberero or beer holster hat with the straws. and your ass will be gettin' grabbed so wear something thin if you want to enjoy it.

Sorry to hear that Jason. I've been laid off 2x in as many years. Both have resulted in very positive change for me. Moving to the Great State of Texas for one

I know Kelly, but I have been paying too much lately... so I dunno if I can play...
I gotta buy some tires for that rover. I decided I'm just gonna throw some basic all terrains on it so wife can drive it to school. (it fits in the parking garage)

I had a really good time at the Oyster bake!! I admit I was sceptical but the Oysters where GREAT! I still cannot belive that the lines for the turkey legs and typical food where longer than the Oysters. I mean common it's OYSTER BAKE right??!!
I don't recall the band we jamed to but he was pretty good, along the lines of Pat Green I guess. I don't follow that music all that much but it was very enjoyable!
I just wish so many damn people didn't want a beer....the lines sucked and only 2 beers at a time.
As for Niosa, unless there is some good music I don't see any appeal for me.
Oh and since the oysters where so good, I'm planning on having some at my Fiesta party this weekend.

There's tons of stuff going on this week. Check it out here:

SEE! SEE! When are you guys going to just accept what I say as truth? Fiesta is fun. NIOSA is fun. It's all fun. If you're going to live in San Antonio you must partake from one of the traits that make it great. If it weren't for the Spurs and Fiesta, what else would we have? What else would we do?

Dude. You need to talk to the family and get a raise. If you can't afford Fiesta, you may need to sell that 80 and get a ten year old Corolla. You could always put that locker in the rear end of the Corolla.
