Padre Trip

Let's get a Padre Island trip setup! I'm thinking around the begining of April, three days, two nights, all the way to the end. How is everyone's availability?

I know there is a Galveston TTORA trip in March and the Houston beach clean up in April but I really want to have a sizeable multi organization run down Padre.

Well it still an't done yet, but looks like this weekend it should be. For those of you less fortunate, Wal-Mart sells cheap 5 gallon cans.

I've been up and down that island and have never run out of gas. You must top-off at the last station and you should be OK. Of course, extra gas cans are nice to have.

Oh, count me in for the trip. I feel the need to shed winter and feel the coming summer. I can't think of a better place to do it.

Let's look at that first weekend of April 4-6. What do you guys think? We leave Friday morning, head down big shell and camp that night. Reach the end Saturday, turn back a ways and make camp. Then we won't have far to go to get off the beach Sunday.

I'm in but will have to meet y'all down there. I have class on that Friday. I get out by 2:30 but will need to go home and pick up my little trailer and dogs. I don't think either would survive the parking lot at school.

Well sounds like a plan. Brett, since you are our LSLC liaison would you invite them. I'll go ahead and post over in TTORA.

Will do. I'm jazzed about this trip! It's been a year since I've driven to the end of the island.

Yep you take the highway through Corpus all the way down the Island till you hit the National Park. The rules of the park do require street legal vehicles, though I've never seen them check nor ask. It's primarily to keep ATV's and dune buggies out. Though if you do get caught with an trial truck you could be toast.

Hotels are for vacations to beach destinations, this is going to be a "everybody back the truck up around the bonfire, drop the tailgates and BS through the night." Thats what im planning on so everybody bring wood, beer and music!

We can get a bit more organized next week. Meeting each other on the beach isn't too hard after dark. I used to meet up with the Land Rover guys at the 37 mile camp in the middle of the night. It's half the fun getting down there in challenging conditions.

I was told there's a chance the fire ban will be removed before next weekend. We'll see.
