This Padre trip is more and more looking like a free for all rather than an organized event.

I turned around after 100 miles. Wife was driving me nuts with her non-stop talking. Needless to say I turned around after I told her about it.

Yeah I was looking forward to hitting the sand for the day. She doesn't seem to grasp, even after all the years we've been together that I like quiet. Conversation is one thing, but rambling on about some idiotic professor, or other minor details of life that nobody gives a rats ass about is another. It doesn't help I had about 3 hrs sleep either.... and then the drone of an hour and a half of non-stop talking. Ok I ranted long enough.

It was one blurry trip. I'll have to get some of the rediculous pictures from my friend's camera in the next few days. Don't tell the park service but my 60+mph pre-running in the woops bent my front shock tabs. I knew they probably wouldn't stand up to that type of punishment but at least it's driveable untill I come up with a better design or ante up for the correct tabs. I guess that's why the shock tabs that are suppose to be used cost nearly $200. The other cool thing was the GLOWING RED exhaust manifold! I guess trying to keep up speed running that soft sand in 2wd really works the engine hard OR maybe the driver was pushing it super hard.

Anyway, I had a great time minus being cold and sleeping in my truck. It sucked to have to leave when everyone was headed for the end but it was nice to get back and have nearly everything cleaned up so I can recover Sunday.

As for the "free for all" I think the organization was quite good. We had about 9 trucks at the time I was leaving, it was an excellent turn out! I hope I didn't miss to many guys who came down today.

The mysterious and sneeky boozer cruiser claimed two more victims as of Friday night. I must admit it is an eiry beast but the "renegade Toyota pickup" team was able to narrowly escape it's clutches. There were however, several penalty cherries delt to the crazy "yo momma" rider of the renegade Toyota pickup.

Someone detonated a party bomb in the back of my truck Friday night. It looked like some kind of homemade device filled with cigarette boxes, bottle caps, cherry stems and crushed beer cans used as shrapnel.

It was kind of both. People are always welcome to come or go as their schedule permits. Yet it was organized enough that we all met at the same place and left at the same time. A perfect blend I would say.

We were talking about coming back in May also. Do we take our chances with Memorial Day weekend? Maybe it won't be too busy if we camp down towards the end.

Hey Jim, sorry we didn't get much time to socialize. I saw you guys passing the other way on I-35 Sunday. Did you manage to keep that long piece of bamboo? Next time I'll make sure to stay for the whole trip.

Memorial day weekend would be fine crowd wise. Like spring break and other holidays, the crowds don't make it that far south.

The other option is a trip to Boulder Creek. I think they're doing some kind of weekend event.
