100 Series build up plans.

This is going to take a good while, but I am going to start modifying the 100 as soon as I can. These are my plans, which will start with one of the most technical, and expensive of the bunch to get it out of the way.

First modifications to work on, will be changing out the 3rd members in the front and rear differential for professionally built 3rd members which includes new R&P gearsets: 4.88 to be exact, and ARB air lockers. This set up will strengthen the differentials, and lay ground work for:

The second phase - Mild lift, and 35" Toyo mud tires, keeping the 18" stock wheels which I like. The lift will be Old Man Emu, and will also include a Slee front Diff Drop kit, and Old Man Emu shocks.

Third phase - ARB front winch bumper, and rear Kaymar bumper with swing out tire and gas can carriers.

Fourth phase - ARB roof rack, and lights for the front bumper, 4 high output Hella lamps on the front of the rack, and two utilitiy yellow fog lamps on the rear of the rack at the corners facing downward at an angle. Dual battery set up with Optima red top and yellow top batteries.

Those are the major modifications. Other things along the way will include more undercarriage protection, possible upgrades to stronger axles, HAM radio, Husky 10 winch, long range second fuel tank, Lowrance 540C off road GPS, Sirius satellite radio and other doo dads as I go.

I am suprised at how expensive some of the rock rails are for the 100. Since I have the tools to make my own, and have the skills, I will give that a shot when I have some spare time.

That is about it for now.

PS - None of these mods will exist until I finish building my wifes new kitchen, so I gotta get busy on that first !!

How strong a slider do you think you'll need? Maybe you could see if the sliders for a Tacoma can also work on the 100 like they do on the 80. Light duty of course but I'd think they'd still hold up in say Moab but maybe not the Rubicon. I'm looking into this option because those sliders only cost $150ish and I'm no hardcore rock lover.

I figure I can build some nice sliders/rails which will conform to the shape of the body/sills of the 100 for about that price as well. I want them strong enough to be able to use them as a jacking point for a hi-lift mainly.

There is your advantage with the IFS you can use a high lift to change a flat tire unfortunatly my hi lift cant get my tires off the ground... That damn flex....

I'm trying to keep my control, but I can tell you and I would not get along well. Maybe you should stop instigating trouble.

I like to have fun without talking trash about another mans truck. I am an offshore oilfield Commercial Diver. No I don't go postal. If you ask any of the ACLC members here about me, I am sure you will find that I am very easy to get along with. I'm sorry I called you an 'a-hole', I will remove that message. You just don't know me, and I don't know you. As well, typed words do not relay whether or not a person is kidding you or not. I usually don't kid anyway. Have a nice evening, and I mean that. Hope the weekend treats you all well with the weather.
