Thanks guys
![]() I can say without exception, that the 70 series is the most durable vehicle I have ever tested or raced. 100kph+ on dirt roads, technical rock crawling, hood high water, 4 wheel drifts across rock mesas, dune jumps, nose dives off of 3m tall cliffs, high speed desert sections with jumps and severe bottoming. All of that, and then driving the truck back to France at 100km per hour for nearly 1,200kms. Incredible machine All of you who own one are a fortunate few

Thanks for the ego boost, Scott. It's nice to have a pro confirm our suspicions.
Congratulations on your success!

In that sense I agree then. It could be moved to trip reports. But then that would defeat the purpose of the post. This was a comment about an event specifically posted into the 7* series by someone to let people in the 7* series section know about this trip.
If you want this one moved, then sure, and I would further suggest all of the trip reports in Intl chat be moved to the Trails/events/expeditions section. In fact, there is a trip report in the correct section...about this trip: http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=84170 gb __________________ WANT A TOYOTA DIESEL ENGINE? i disagree, i suggested the international chat for the localization of trip reports and other international news. i was tired of seeing interesting threads lost after a couple days.
basic chat is still in chat, international chat, so far, is above the basic chatter in the chat section. i was informed that a thread to be kept in 70 series tech had to have tech involved. it is not to be 70 series chat. there have been posts deleated and moved because of a lack of tech involved. since this is the case then just because you like something cool (like this thread) doesn't make it okay to leave it here. cheers __________________ pulling this info out of my ass so take it with a pound of salt "People are poor because they don't spend money wisely, tough sh!t !!! I cannot move Wayne, I got no modn powers in here.
I like the direction the international chat area is going. I like the reports or trips in there, like the ones you post. I kinda think the internation chat area is anything goes. Like the BC corner.. Tech/forsale/ etc... for specific stuff.... I dunno. This kinda fits in there. It has no tech. Well you have to read deep for it. Now some things are just plain interesting and it is related to 7x. But I know Wayneo had a lot of things similar moved. Lets see what Beanz2 does. ![]() I only can move stuff out of Diesel or classified diesel. If you look down at the bottom of the page you can see who is the forum mod for that section. __________________ -84 BJ60, Finally on the FN road! -91 FJ80, wife's ride Iron Butt award winner of the Cruise Moab 08 ! |

The trip report in question was in the trip report section on this site. The link was to make people aware of the trip report, and it that it involved a 7* series. In fact, that's the best example of how an international trip report fits into the existing section (Trials-Events-Expeditions). This is recognized and approved practice on Mud I thought. Using your logic and quoting your comment that you wanted to see a trip report section means all the trip reports in the international section should be moved to the Trials-Events-Expeditions, as it was and is exisiting, alive and well. In fact, that is what I think should happen. This site is about being inclusive for things like outfitting, trip reports, items for sale, venders, etc, and then branchs out to the general vehicle series to narrow down needs and tech. Club sections cover all ground, as it should...it is local and beholden to the club. At this time I do not think there is need for an international chat area. It is mainly trip reports, and the chat can filled with in other sections of Mud. I do agree with moving the clubs that are international to highlight them. Maybe...and I hope...we will see more there. I think having an international chat which is mostly filled with trip reports from various people around the world to be very exclusive, especially seeing as there is a trip report section. To me, participation in this site is not about that. I think the international crowd would be much better served, hit a larger audience and garner more chat if all these "international" trip reports were in Trails-Events-Expeditions. I would think the USA users would get a kick out of seeing our reports sprinkled in with the reports that are there. Don't get me wrong...I like the reports. I simply believe they belong with all the other reports...unless it is a club report, and in the club section. The site itself is simply international in scope due to the subject (Land Cruiser) in just about every section. Further to this train of thought, I agree with Woody. I do not think there is a need for a JDM and diesel section for sale (and if anyone should want one it should be us). I agree that all for sale should be in one section, with JDM, or DIESEL, or AUST SPEC in the heading, if it is such. If you are looking...use the search feature. A new section breakout might be interesting. Sorry for the detour folks...and thanks to Woody for hosting this site. At the end of the day, it's a great resource and meeting place. Woody will evolve Mud as he sees fit, as he navigates the future. That is as it should be. gb __________________ WANT A TOYOTA DIESEL ENGINE? i guess what you are suggesting is we start our own world wide JDM club and call it that. then we can post what ever, the same as the coastal cruisers with out having to worry about having our posts modified, deleated or moved on us.
hummm...not a bad idea, i will ask Woody what he thinks... here we go: http://forum.ih8mud.com/intl-jdm-owners-alliance/ __________________ pulling this info out of my ass so take it with a pound of salt "People are poor because they don't spend money wisely, tough sh!t !!! why? cause a year or so back, you blatantly told me if i don't like the way things are to create my own.
i mentioned to Brian that a international section would be a good idea. tehre will be both TLCA clubs and just plain International clubs. i have watched as a few stopped posting in the IH8MUD forum after the International section was broken up. some people do not have the experience to post tech but have a love for the JDM/diesel cruisers. they enjoy reading about what they could do if they had the money/time/ability. soem got sick of their threads/post getting moved or deleated. they posted here for others of our select group could read and enjoy, a privilaged brotherhood, if you may. then the split happened, no i wasn't happy about it at all. it killed the "feeling" of the forum and it turned out i wasn't the only one that felt this way. i guess my attitude has a lot to do with it. i do not like to always play by the rules (actually, i seldom like to play by the rules). i absolutely LOVE the idea of a brotherhood of JDM cruiserheads. We are different from the rest of the cruiserheads. most of us are diesel bigots. some of us are Attention Sluts, we want what no one else (or few anyway) has. we build our trucks and trick them out after the OZ boys or the off road competition trucks. WE LOVE OUR TRUCKS, this is not to say that other models are not loved by their owners as well as we know they do. Greg, if you wish to join in that would be fantastic but if you wish not to then that is up to you. anyway, there might be no participation in the new section. maybe i am way out in left field (it wouldn't be the first time), only time will tell. i hope this will bring back some that have left off posting and encourage others to join in... cheers __________________ pulling this info out of my ass so take it with a pound of salt "People are poor because they don't spend money wisely, tough sh!t !!! I also did not like the splitting of fourms.
To bad about the JDM for sale section as it made things easier to weed through. Lets face it the diesel section should cover JDM, non north american vehicles and all diesel related, 7 series 8 series all series........ And here I thought it was simply all about trying to re-create the JDM sandbox, as you miss the idolizing hoards that came to worship Wayne, sitting in a Budda like pose in the middle of the sandbox, where the 2LT reigns supreme, propane is “the” solution, R150 and 151 trannsmissions are the shite, and solid mount fans shred the winds of opinion…so there is only one: Wayne’s. And Lord help anyone who says anything otherwise… Silly me :-) gb |

LOL!!,
i think you are one of the few that thought i was being worshiped. i posted because i liked to help out or if i had a different opinion then i wasn't scared to post it up. i like to think outside the box so if you feel the PZ is an inferior engine or the 2LT etc are light duty then i will take the oposing side, why? cause it is fun to either prove you right or maybe wrong. when the RMLCA was in it's infancy Peter and i would get into great battles about gassers and diesels, higher or lower, driving abilities then Peter became all PC and the fun was gone. You have strong feelings about what you beleive and i have ideas, if the ideas don't jive with what you have said then i will try and prove my point. the new forum is not about "Wayne", it is about the JDM/international units. it took me a while but i am taking your advice, you should be happy. if some want to worship me then all i can say is don't. i like attention and i strive to find it by posting trip reports, tests, and by driving cool rigs but as for me as a person, there are a lot more knowledgeable people on this board and you Greg are one of them. cheers __________________ pulling this info out of my ass so take it with a pound of salt "People are poor because they don't spend money wisely, tough sh!t !!! ![]() On a serious note, perhaps an intl chat may well be warrented, however I would think it could be better placed in the general section, below "common" chat. I really do believe a disservice to the LC community in Mud as a whole is being done by not posting any international trip reports (anything outside USA) in the Trials-Events-Expeditions (Or the potential of having International Trip reports split between two areas). It's the best advertizing we an the international crew can get. And, to that end for continuity the TLCA Club corner might be best continued along the path for TLCA clubs, and/or organizations which have bylaws, a board of Directors, and require membership in the TLCA. However, at the end of the day we are all guests here, as this is Woody's house. He has given a lot of leway to let this conversation wander in the public domain... I/we (G&S) continue to pimp Mud to customers who may not have heard of it, anyone I run across who has a LandCruiser, and at this point I see no plans to change that. I like it. gb |
