Well, after trying to contact someone at Spanish Trails for 2 weeks. I finally got a response back from an email I sent 4 days ago... Very impressive group there.

No room in the in. If I have an RV I can get a spot - but if I'm in a tent - the answer is FO. Not even putting a tent on an RV spot. They want RV's so people can shower and use facilities in their own RV's. The campground facilities are maxed out.

Holiday Inn Express - here I come

We will be contacting her tomorrow a.m. This is a surprise to us. As you know, it's a new campground for our event. We're not happy with all of these issues and poor customer service -- it reflects poorly on Cruise Moab.

We had her word that tents would be allowed on RV sites. To hear that she is turning away tent campers but accepting RVs is a major piss-off factor for me. We've traveled to Moab TWICE to talk to the campground owners in person. (It's 6 hours one way from Denver -- not a casual drive.)

We are doing our best to maintain an optimistic attitude about the new campground. After they meet everyone and see what great guests we are, then maybe CM 2007 will be smooth sailing.

We will keep everyone informed when we find out more info. Hopefully, we'll know more soon.

When I registered she stuck me in an RV site (with my tent) because I have a cargo trailer. She did not seem at all pleased to be taking my money.

My experience wasn't as bad as some. Yes she wasn't too chatty. However she did take my credit card number and she asked again what is my recreation vehicle and I replied, A lancruiser. This is our recreational vehicle. We'll see you all there,

She also was not into assigning spaces at reg ( which could mean many things on the date of arrival) and I don't believe I got a confirmation number. Did anyone else get a number? or anything to confirm reg.?

When I made my reservations Gena was very nice.....? I guess. Anyway, she did assign me a spot number, but gave no confirmation number. This year may be a good time to do so more looking around at other places.

I called, made my reservation. Gave her my CC info and she said that I was all set. Then I asked her if I could have a confirmation number. She hesitated for a second and then gave it to me.

Here's the latest: Spanish Trail is almost completely booked. She does have some RV sites that she prefers to rent to people with RVs. If you are tent camping, she has told us that she is full. However, I got an e-mail this morning from a guy in our club who is tent camping, and she DID take a reservation from him. Not sure why: maybe he has a really nice phone voice.

If you are tent camping, the Moab KOA is right across the road.

All Cruise Moab participants will be allowed into the campground, whether you're camping there or elsewhere, or staying in a hotel/condo. You'll still be able to hang out, watch the evening movies and slide shows, and enjoy cold refreshing malt beverages.

no conf number. no spot assigned.
was told it would be "worked out" when I arrive.

I can't say that I'm terribly thrilled with that answer...

Isn't this the new campground at south end of town, sort of top of a hill? If so, it has hardly any natural wind/sun shelters from what I recall. While this is great for RVs, tenters will be exposed to the elements. FYI.

Its not that bad for tenters. It is backed against a ridge to the West but doesn't have lots of wind breaks for North and South. Congrats again on Isabelle. Kelly and I hope to meet her in May.

The slee guys are staying in the camp grounds this year, but the rest of the Homegrown Crew will be staying out at area bfe. We would like to stay in the camp grounds but it sounds like its going to be a hassle for us to tent camp. Should be a kick in the ass time out at bfe figured we should be able to get in some good night wheeling.

I too had a bad experience on the phone. I said screw it and I'm camping out at the base of Hell's Revenge. It is $10. They have water but no showers. But I'll probably bring my camper so we will have our own facilities.

Eric, when did you call? If you're bringing your camper, they WILL take your reservation. They are simply booked to the gills with tenters, and they are almost full to boot.
