I noticed on the CM'06 registration form that the HQ is being moved to the Spanish Valley RV park.

Do they allow camping, or will the major contingency be at Slickrock campground again this year?

they have 13 tent spots and that's all. they also won't give discounts to multiple people on one sight. maybe that will change when they get a barage of people wanting tents sights.

Is this open only to Land Cruisers? Would a 1997 4runner be welcome?

Of course, every year many runners and minis participate. The rig must be capable of each trail, and the registrant must be a current TLCA member.

Happy cruisin'!

How do they determine whether it's capable or not? Is that part of the signup process?

It's mostly honor system and there is a vehicle check. Check out the PDF for Trail key and standard vehicle capability. http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/crui...ration2006.pdf

Then sign up for trails that suits your rig capability. If you need help picking trails there are pleanty than can offer opinions. IF you need further help PM and I'll see what I can do or fwd it to somone that can help you further.

Thanks! I appreciate the info! I know other rigs just like mine that have run Pritchet, so I should be good to go on all those trails.

Does Kane Creek run year round or only when there are rains? And if it runs year round how deep is it? I just installed a Safari Snorkel and would love to use it! Jim

Ya don't need no stinkin' snorkle. Schit, you couldn't snorkle with fins in 'dat creek. 'Dis is desert.

Hey Jim......Gary here. I have seen some water in Kane creek but not enough to use your snorkle. Go north a few hundred miles, it looks like the hills in LA are getting plenty of water. See you in Moab.
Gary

last year, there was one creek crossing that was frame high, but that's not common.

yeah but if you get off the trail, which was changed quite a bit with last years rains and you can find a couple of big holes, I know went over the hood before I reassesed the situation, not many holes that deep but I know a few who have found them the hard way, one P/U had a seized motor a few years ago in the same hole.

I called Spanish Trail Campground today and made my reservations; the lady seemed a little grumpy when I mentioned I was bringing my Landcruiser on a trailer. She said everyone seemed to be doing that and they didn't have a lot of space. I asked her if there was someother out-of-the-way place I could park the truck and trailer and she said no. So I reserved an R.V. site. She did say that if you rent a tent site, you will have grass to camp on, but if you rent an RV site, you will be on gravel. That's ok with us, as I think we will stay in the back of our truck.

Hey Gary, great to hear from you and glad you are going to CM06! Maybe we will get to do a run together this year...which rig are you going to bring? ...such tough choices!

I ran that trail last year before CM and found the trail very torn up from the water flow and changing of the stream bed, what i thought was the trail was the stream bed, what was the trail was also at some points now the stream, so from the run I did the year before to last year was entirely a different run.
that being said I had not intention of doing anything illegal,

I'm a winner!
I won the PMC free CM piece of paper!
I won it at the Pigrun raffle, but that's another story.
Sure, this free registration is gonna cost me a grand in gas, but I can't pass it up.
So, how does this piece of paper work?
