Is anyone going to be running somewhat stock trails? Green 3's or Blue 1's.
I would really like to come out for the day on Saturday. My 40 is in no shape and wont be for awhile. My 80 is stock so I cant really go nuts with it as its my DD.

Jeff

Directions to Red Ridge

Posted up to BBRC list...

After following Norm back from the campgrounds to 81 on the last run I thought I might post some direction for those of us towing our rigs on trailers. It is a lot easier and the roads are much better.

take exit 143 off I81 and go west (old exit 40)

go approx 10 miles and go past Eagle Rock resort

go right at sign for Oneida/Nuremberg.( this is a slight right hand turn)

At stop sign go left.

Go past the Texaco and "The Cove"

At the bottom of the hill go left on Millers rd and follow signs to campground.

Red Ridge Lake Campground
61 Millers Rd
Zion Grove, Pa 17985
570.384.4760

Hope this helps

Short version, had a heck of a good time, great folks......
one nasty rollover, took 3 winchs to get it level....
3 Birfs, one broke frame, one PS hose and more fun than should be legal....
More tommorrow when I get home.

I'm still waiting to here about John's trailer tire adventure. Rumor is it is worse than this one...

Cam (Smtyblt) & I shredded the pass rear trailer tire on 81S somewhere around Shippensburg, PA. As it was passed 10:30 already and we had both promised our wives we would be home Sat night we did what we could. Pulled the 62 as far forward on the trailer as it would go and dumped as much tounge weight as we could get on the Super Duty. We tried ratchet strapping the rear axle up so it wouldn't drag, but that didn't work too well. We went about 8 miles to a truck stop, and discovered the other rear axle tire was down to 20 psi again. We dumped the one can of tire sealant we had into it. Someone decided it would be better to have the front trailer axle missing a tire rather than the rear, so we moved them around. Did I mention our tool set comprised of 1 pair of channelocks, 1 pair of vicegrips, 1 phillips, 1 straight, and 1 high lift jack? Found it was much easier to pull the trailer hubs apart to swap the tires than to kill ourselves with 10" Vice Grips on the lugs. Once this was complete around 1am-ish we hit the road again with a slight list in the 3 tired trailer and an occasional shower of sparks. 4 hours later we hit Fredericksburg.

Lessons Learned:
1. Check trailer tire air pressure frequently.
2. Carry a spare trailer tire.
3. Carry tools.
4. Drive a big tow rig.

Disclaimer: Do not try this at home. We were really lucky the other three tires held. They were only rated at 1850 lbs each and the 62 with trailer weighs more than 5,550. Had the Super Duty not been on the helper springs shouldering the load we would have been sitting on the side of 81 waiting for you guys to rescue us.

Tim

Don't feel too bad Tim, when I got home, I saw that my Orion drain plug was sticking out a few threads and was dripping gear oil. Useless stock skid plate was smashed up again, exposing the drain plug. I felt a grinding/rumbling noise

Damn I keep hitting the wrong buttons!

Anyway to repeat, Don't feel too bad Tim, when I got home, I saw that my Orion drain plug was sticking out a few threads and was dripping gear oil. Useless stock skid plate was smashed up again, exposing the drain plug. I felt a grinding/rumbling noise on the way home. When I removed the plug, I only got about a liter of oil. the rest was gone. I hope I didn't damage the Orion too much. May need a rebuild at some point.

wow........

so that's 2 DIFFERENT trailers that lost tires?!?

I feel kind of bad that you were stranded in my hometown... but with no cell signal at the camp site you guys couldn't have gotten ahold of me anyway... If nothing else, you could have dumped the 62 and trailer at my house.

GLAD to hear you got home, I actually haven't heard from John to make sure HE got home I just realized that you guys weren't with our group... just didn't register that 2 trailers blew tires.

this all kind of defeats the idea of trailering the rig so you can get home regardless of breakage

Texican,
Thanks again for the Shiner Bock banner. It will look great in my garage while it waits to go to the next GSMTR.

I tell you - Shippensburg is possessed

I got off at that exit and proceeded to work on my truck for an hour or two - the gear backed off my sm465 and it was missing bad...

I think I just passed all my shippensburg karma to the trailer kings

ummm...pictures?
