Southern Utah wanderings

Not real sure if this belongs here since a trail ride or event usually means more than one person but here goes...

This is a couple weeks old since I've been out to town since the trip. I left Salt Lake City on Friday after work and had to be to Phoenix by Monday morning for my golf trip. The plan was to take some long sections via dirt road and make up time on the highway if I had to. I found a few decent roads heading down through Central Utah on my way to Escalante. Nothing special but fast and well maintained.

I had plans to do a slot canyon in Escalante on Saturday morning. The canyon was a blast but the heat took a lot out of me. I took a 20min power nap in Escalante then headed south on the Smokey Mountain road. I took some poseur pics of the truck. When you're solo all pics have to be staged however. In the last pic you can see the road descending from the plateau.

The area Northwest of Lake Powell remains the most remote and untouched area of Utah. I didn't see a soul between Escalante and Page. About 8 hours of driving. Some of you may remember my article from Trails about driving the width of Utah on dirt roads. Well with this trip under my belt I now have a route to go the length of the state. Now i just need to find the weekend to get it done.

Great pics. I'm going through (across) all of southern UT on my way back from Telluride starting on the 19th. I'd be interested in some of your suggestions! Please pm me or email me (clownmidget@yahoo.com) if you get a chance. Thanks.

Looks like a lot of fun, glad to see its still very green out there. Gues I can add this to one of my many areas to explore in Utah. Think you could spend most of your life in the southern Utah and probably not see everything..... Thanks for the pics.
