The only damage was a 4 inch cut in the headliner from some of the cargo. the ground was soft and the roof rack wound up on a rotted stump with cushioned the landing and kept weight off the body panels.
We had her back on her feet in 5 minutes or less.

I had gone through a deep sloppy mudhole and the windshield was obscured with muddy water. I bounced coming out and it tossed the rig to the side just a little. The front tire caught a bank and over I went.

No *need* for chains Chad. If we get into stuff where chains are needed... with this many rigs we are going to be looking for alternatives anyway. If you have some and you have the room/weight capacity to bring them... they might be handy if we get into sloppy stuff. The trails that we know have a lot of bog and mud may be more than we can handle with this group. If so we will use other drier route anyway.

If you have Boggers and lockers, chains do not add much. If you have generic "MT" tires... they can help a LOT. IF you have room in the fenders to run them while bouncing and articulating.

This spot was doable real early in the season when it was still frozen solid underneath. As soon as it thawed... you hit it hard and just winched through.... Yep... there is a strap and we are getting ready to drag me out backwards... we had not learned yet at that point and I tried it a couple of times.

After visiting Alaska, I can definitely tell you I will be back for an ACT someday...I don't know if I'm ready for that amount of mud, but my vehicle is getting closer.

I always enjoying seeing your rigs out and about Mark...

Right now the expectation and the plan is for the last Alaska Cruiser Trek to be held in 2011. A year ahead of normal schedule. Starting in 2012 I hope to be conducting tours similar to the Trek in vehicles I will provide. Hopefully in 2011 I will have a handful of rigs available for rental to fit in with the Trek. Once the tour projects gets going I will be providing everything except your personal gear (clothes and sleeping bags) picking people up at the airport and delivering then there when the run is over with a night at a decent hotel at the beginning and end of the excursion. Hope to do several runs a summer like this.

But I can't do this and the Trek as well, so I expect the Trek will sit in hibernation after 2011.

I came across this website from our 2006 outing today. I had forgotten that it was out there.

The 2006 Trek was held in the Eastern edges of the Talkeetnas. This is not where we are planning to be in 2010. It is however our fallback location if we have flooding in the area we expect to be like we did in 2008.

Here are a couple more pictures from the are we will be heading through in 2010.

This is glacier 13 in the background. For a sense of scale, you would just barely be able to pick out a cruiser making it's way up the ice in this photo. Would not be able to identify it as a vehicle. Just a dot from this distance.

Nothing special in this shot. Just some '40s in the woods. which I guess is a but unusual for most of the pictures Posted from these parts. Woods I mean

There *is* a bog just out of site in the foreground though. Took the picture as the lead '40 came up to give me a yank.
