DC metro area meet 'n greet/wrenching party.....input requested!
Hi everyone, I'm looking to put together a meet 'n greet/wrenching party sometime between thanksgiving and new years. Thinking the second weekend in December would be good. It's kind of bold of me to propose this, since I'm not a permanent resident of the area and don't have any facilities to provide to host the event. However, I will be around the area for many years to come and would like to meet all the local cruiserheads.
I originally wanted to put this together so that I could get my knuckles/birfs done on the 80, but I have setup to use the local shop(with lift ) back home(virginia beach) over the thanksgiving weekend. I'm in the process of several projects, so I'm sure there's something to be worked on if this comes together. What do you guys think? What would be a good meeting place. Is there a precedent for this(I know there is a local land cruiser club, but I've been told they're more focused on 40's). Give me your ideas, your criticisms, whatever. Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you all! Ary P.S. I know that everyone is busy around the holidays, but I thought I'd see if everyone could sneak away for a saturday

I'd be interested in this Arya....
I'm in Northeast Ohio, but WDC is only about 6 hours away; I went to college in DC, so coming back to work on my Cruiser would be quite enjoyable for me as I can kill two birds with one stone. Are you in Arlington, or Alexandria? Or southern MD? Or DC proper? Virginia Beach might be a bit far for me during that time--I'd then have to bring my girlfriend, which would be ok, but not ideal (if you know what I mean....she get kinda bored a bit with this Cruiser mania!!--takes attention away from her). I'd also recommend that you try to get the local DC (Capitol Cruisers...??) involved too. Even though they tear ass in 40's, many of them have probably had 60's and 80's as well. Their knowledge would be real useful and I'm sure they ahve good stories ta boot. Drop a PM if you want to discuss further. Don't forget the BBRC club.
There's more and more 80's in there all the time! I'd be up for a meet, depending on when, and what I've got going on. Problem with that time frame is that after Thanksgiving the #@$! Christmas party season starts. With all the parties you "have to make an appearance" at.... time is scarce. However! A good cruiser get together would be a nice respite! Chat Lance @ Iron Pig Off Road up and see what he's up to at that time. Also, a few of us were thinkling of getting some winter wheeling in at Paragon at the end of December. Not really planned yet, but talked about a lot over beers Keep me informed.
