Attica IN Badlands, June 14-15, 2003

Kenton Green is working up interest in a Toyota/open trail ride weekend event thingie for the Badlands in Attica IN for this coming June. If interested, follow this link and I'll make sure he posts up and keeps us updated with the plans.

b -- this is the kind of notice that I could get used to! June badlands is now on the calendar... and getting kinda close, so when you decide where the lemon will be parked that w/e let me know.

Actually, the Lemon is officially running after last night and should have more of it's gremlins gone after Saturday! lol

My plan is Summers, same spot as we've been in before, but haven't done reservations yet. Won't do the new atticacamping.com spot since there is no alcohol...I gots rules! lol

I am planning to head that way at least for a day trip but could change that to an overnight trip. The wheelin all day makes me tired and thirsty

so Summers may be the call. Time to get the tent out anyways. If I don't do severe damage Memorial, count me in!

Got yer junk repaired and ready??

b -- the "junk" could actually go as is, but will hopefully see some improvements first... new winch is on the way... I really should do the spring center pins... and should modify the p/s pump pressure & bracket... and getting the 420 in would be a big improvement... but I'm good to go play as long as I don't end up 1/2 done w/ something critical.

When are you going to be in Tellico? I am going to be spending a lot of time in Murphy N.C. this summer, only about 25 minutes from Tellico. Would love to come by, say hello, and scope out Tellico for future runs. (I don't think the 40 is quite ready to run it yet :tear

Considering my lack of breakage over the past 10 days in Slade/Tellico/Attica (read: almost no wrench time!) we DO intend to arrive at Summers on Thurs night. I haven't got reservations yet, but should in the next day-two. Also, I probably won't be there until late that evening, like 11pm or so.

I hope to be there when the joint opens on Friday. No 40 though. I'll be lucky to get my sliders finished and the rest of the maintenance done on the 80 by then. I've got no passengers this time, so I'm up for

But the logical place to meet is in the upper parking area behind the office, or just across the paved road from the office. Regardless it not hard to spot a Toyota truck or Cruiser in that area.

As far as time, I have no idea what the plans are, but it's unlikely you can checkin and wheel before 10 unless you were there the day prior, and prepaid.

I am looking forward to meeting all the new people planning to go! I think I am easily the most frequent Badlands visitor that owns a Cruiser, and I plan to beat mine pretty hard in preperation for the next EROCC event. So along with Woody and his cronies, I am certain we have the hard core stuff covered.

There are NO Cruiser spare parts available there, so bring what ya need to keep it going. Hot food is available. See ya all there, sometime.

Karl, which Cruiser are you bringing?

I am bringing the FJ40 newly shod with your old tires. The 4runner will not be trailready for awhile if that is what you meant.

What tire sixe is too extreme for the trails in the BadLands?

I am running 42"s TSL and locked at both ends?
Would that be considered overkill?

considering the owner runs a Badlands chassis with Volvo portals and coilovers and he prefers his 42's over his competition Krawlers, I think you'll fit right in....hehehe

IMO, 44's are too much there, mostly due to width....35-42 will get you on the extreme stuff, locked and winched of course.

THE PLAN that SG and I are thinking of has he and I (and whomever wants to join in) running a "gauntlet" type run on Friday...this'll be the hard day, all the toughest stuff in the Quarry and more. The timid need not apply. Full locked, winches, body damage and rolls expected, 35" minimums, and with luck, a spotter free run as well...point and shoot.

Course, there will be other "gangs" there not getting into the dumb stuff too....hehehe

Saturday will be more laid back (for me anyways), and C (my wife) wants to drive some on either Sat aft or Sunday morning...

JUST made my reservation, powered site D-10, coming in Thurs evening about 11pm and out Sunday afternoon.... (D-9 was open when I called too, any other victims?) I know JM is gonna pitch a tent there earlier and get our fire going....
