rubithon, camping at loon prior to hitting the trail

Hello all,
Our plans for us to do rubithon are leave here(Ventura) monday the 16th and drive through the night and get to loon first thing tuesday morning and then just chill at loon for a day before we hit the trail on the wagon run on wed.
So the question is camping at loon, do i need to make a reservation and if so anyone have te phone number. Or will there be a bunch of open spots. We will have one fj60 and one fj45 pickup and six people total.
thanks again all
cheers chappy

The actual campground at Loon is called "Northshore" and it is a first come first served place, self service fees but no reservations. If you can get a spot, it is a nice place.

There are many dispursed sites nearby but with the Route Des rules, you have to park on or next to the main road and walk in.

On a Tuesday you should find something in one or the other.

If you need reservations, Robb's Resort is on Ice House Road on your way in. They support the cause and it is an OK place if you like dry camping, or they have cabins.
