Aside from days and days of reading the results of a google search, try here, TLCAForum.com - IH8MUD™ Forums take your pick of which CA area chapter best fits ya, and read/post over there.

Welcome to mud.
Look into joining a local club (like PMC) and TLCA. There are a lot of places to go in the Sierras. Look up Hollister Hills which is not too far. __________________ 1982 FJ60 Northern California TLCA/PMC Member "He who throws mud only loses ground." |

Hi - No affiliation but I own the SoCal edition of that collection and it's quite a nice book to have. GPS coordinates, historical info and accurate maps. A bit bulky but very comprehensive IMHO. Good luck and happy trails
