Yup.....

Would love to get up there, but time is a factor, and my truck wouldn't be up for it without mods I can't afford moneywise, or since it's my DD. Maybe a kiddy run without the 35x12.5 requirement?

I have thought about convoying up that way with the ACT travellers and exploring some of the less remote areas of AK and the Yukon if I have the free time though.

Hmmm, maybe you need 180lbs on the pass side to balance the weight in your truck?

In the process of getting new driveshafts and ordered an intercooler. Looking at getting an Engel fridge for the trip as well.

Not sure what to do about OBA, the 12H-T doesn't lend itself well to a york so it's going to be an electric and/or Co2.

The other big project is the rear tire carrier and Nato can holder.

I still haven't heard from Mark, but the plan is to still attend.

Well Maybe...
My buddy may come, but he changes his word from week to week. So i may just have to contact you about it.

I'm waiting for my swing out Kaymar tire carrier to arrive. Then a CB to mount. ARB in the rear. Oh and my t-case could benefit from an overhaul.

Yah, don't worry much about it. I might be too busy with research stuff in the summer anyway. Hopefully I'll get some decent trips in for fieldwork regardless.

Lend me some 35s and a sawsall, and we can both go. It's not like I would be doing anything the rust won't accomplish with time anyway.

Hey, I've almost caught you in post count!! I guess I better get a life soon.

Yeah...especially when you see that I joined in 2002!

35s= done, assuming Deny doesn't trash them on me this weekend, sawsall - no problem!

Thanks

That's a good plan. Getting up here quickly would be three 18 hr. days from Saskatoon.

A yr. ago I did:

day 1: Grand Forks, ND to Saskatoon
day 2: Sask. to Ft. St. John
day 3: FSJ to almost to Whitehorse
day 4: almost Whitehorse to Anchorage

Four days would be safer considering summer traffic.
Take your time on the way back and leave room for unforeseen delays after the trek.

Is it an e-packet, or is Mark mailing these things out?

I need to make holiday arrangements by the end of next week and haven't heard from Mark.

Can someone else send me the info?

Thanks for the package. I also received one from Mark.

Now all we need to do is get permission from work to take holidays. Ugh, even writing that was hard. I need to become self employed.

Oh, and there is the issue of getting the truck back together...

medicbob, are planning on taking the 80?

Yes, I'm driving the 80 from Phoenix to Tok. Not sure which route to take yet. I am taking my 17 y/o daughter. She wants to hit all the tourist places (national parks) on the way up. I would rather go the backroads up. I'm thinking 3 weeks up, 10 days there and 2 weeks back. Trying hard not to pack too much and find a balance on dependability and goability....

I live just outside of the Sequia National Forests near Exeter. I'm east of hwy 99 in central California.

You can crash at my place if you need a place for you and your daughter to stay. We have a 3br house and we only use one of them. If your daughter does not like Beagles she may have to sleep in a tent in the front yard since our three Beagles have the run of the place.

I'm exactly 596 miles from Gilbert, AZ so it would be a nice landingpad after you first days drive.

Thanks for the offer.. If I can solve all my mechanical issues before the trip I'll head that way up. If not I'm going to head toward Slee's shop on the way up. Your name sounds familiar. Are you from out here>

Well if you come in the area of mid west alberta, i can drive up with you. Mind you i'll be in my '40 humming along around 60 miles an hour. A caravan of land cruisers on the highway to AK would be quite the sight!

Thanks Kroll. Still a little early yet for me to nail down the route to take. Too many choices. It would be cool to caravan up though. Are you going by yourself?

I forwarded it to you. The attachment is 9 MB so it might be bouncing off your hotmail account. Do you have a different email address? It works fine with gmail.
