Well folks finally got life back to normal after ACT08.....I'm sittin in a hotel in Shreveport LA after visiting GM......lifes normal now

First off......THANKS.......as dad would say......never would believe that I would seen Alaska-------WOW

Now on to the real honesty part of this post:

Steve......folks this Cruiser head, let 6 folks he has never meet before crash at his house with his family, in dirty nasty cloths, stinking, and lookin rough for 2 nights-WHY.........because of his selflessness........THANKS STEVE!

Mark....fearless leader, fixer, tour guide, sherpa, guru, dog tracker
Thanks, this trip was a adventure and more-its something I will never forget!

Kevin/Lydia.....spoter, tuger, botinist, trailer hauler, KARMA GURU's
Folks like you all make a trip, Kevin can guide rivers being calm and clean, while Mrs. Lydia can tell you every flower and story so you wanta sit and listen like you are in school......

Darrell......Trail Guide, rally car driver, mud scuba diver....Folks this fellow makes a 80 look like a rally car but seems to never loose the trail. Darrel's calm nature made everone feel welcome and needed. Thanks!

Fellow participants: lets think back to standing in the Eureka lodge parking lot......we all knew nothing about each other, skills, likes, dis-likes, or personalities.......funny how 20 folks can come together and function that well after a short time.

Looking back when one would get stuck what did you see, many coming to the rescue. When one would drive better or find a better line, another would follow (or let his daughter drive)

All told many of stories will come out around a camp fire or be told while doing what we all did---- participating at a event.
Hopefully with folks we don't know but afterwards are glad we do now!

Thanks for the memories folks.......another great cruiser event I'll never forget!

Mission accomplished

Oh yea, a 80 rides much smoother than a 40 on Reality Flats

I finally arrived home as of the 30th. I forgot to mention that I weighed myself in as I was leaving Tok. The land cruiser full with gear and 34 gallons of fuel maxed out at 5850 pounds!
Well I guess I just have to upload pics now.

We made it home without any real issues. Brakes are a little weak, steering is out of alignment, got a bit of a jiggle over 120km/h...no biggy.

I miss being there already.

Some more pics:

Agent Orange being driven by none other the the great Charla D aka Ratpuke

How could you start a trek without a little wrenching at the trailhead by none other then Mr Watley!! SOA on the trailer.

Try to help to help out the mog, Todd came over for a second tow point.

Todd twisted up from the other direction

the whole reason why this trek was so fun. An almost stock FJ40, that bumped, dragged, and crawled through the trail. Very impressive.

The best young driver on the trip, and a great young lady (even if dad thought she was hanging out with those boys from Canada too much )

Ole Clutchee, always getting himself into these odd situations... I won't tell you about the naked "I love you..." oops, I have already written too much

Roger on a river crossing

Archie's rig seeing a lot of water...with Bob at the wheel. That trusting a friend to the end!

A beautiful greyling my wife caught.

I have many more, I will post up as I get to them. i am trying to figure out this new macbook pro we bought on the way home.

Darryl, I am using img tags from photobucket and including text between the pics. I am not sure if you can do that with the mud uploader.

Aw, Brad, you're far too kind. Thanks again for stopping in on your way North. It was great to meet Jen and see you again. I've never met anyone else who'll eat chicken fingers, hot sauce & ranch and chocolate milk for breakfast before BTW, have placed an order for new tires for the Free Spirit. They should be in on Friday.........

I can empathize about the 'miss being there already.' It's been over a year now and I think about/day dream about AK pretty much every day. I wrote up a blurb for Whatley about how I couldn't get rid of "AK Fever." I'll see if I can find it and forward it to you.

Beautiful pictures...

Awesome pictures.
Jason, Johnna and Taylor left my place on the 3rd. I showed them a little around the shop.
I think they're buying an 80. Word on the street is that Jason's 40 blew its 2F. So he left it at Mark's shop. Brad I just ordered a macbook pro. I love em. cheers.

Awesome...really Awesome. Medicbob, your truck sounds like my buddies tractor, personally, I like it.
Edit: would it be impolite to ask what happened to the dog?

LOL... not sure the meaning of Bob's caption...

No Clutchees were hurt in the filmg of this production.

And the dog was just uncomfortable for a couple of days...

She found a porc and got a few quills in her nose. And apparently hurt her leg when she bolted and ran in the alder thicket... twisted it or something... she hobbled in three legs for a day... and would do it for another day or so when she was begging for treats.

Trails Article

Mark,

I just finished reading your article in the Jan/2000 Trails. How about doing one on the Trek. Maybe a composite of the last two or three. Get some of tha participants to write up a short summary. Just a thought.

Thanks for all the great photos and write ups.
