Paul, you should check out the LAX to San Luis Obispo (SBP) puddle jumper. The airport is about 20 minutes from the beach, I'm sure we can arrange transportation.

Send a PM to Gas-A-Lot.

He lives in the LAX area and is coming to SnT.

Looks liek you need to be there at 5:00am or 7m.

Is there another way other than the route through town from the north across the creek?

Sorry to disappoint but there is NO creek, hasn't been for months.

It will take a few rain storms before the "creek" breaks through to the ocean. So no water crossings this time.

We have had some light rain this afternoon and last Saturday, plus the marine layer thicken up a bit. That means the sand is heavier, easier to drive on. The forecast looks great for the weekend. Sunny and maybe some warm off shore breezes.

Newbie to Surf & Turf

Hi All:

I hope to make it this year. I bought nice '85 FJ60 two months ago that had loads of work already done to it, but she needed work under the hood. Hence the nickname "leaky" I hope to wrap up a new clutch/main seal job in time for Fri or Sat arrival. This will be my first road trip and I am stoked !!

Over the past 2 months I have:

1) Replaced the Rad & Hoses
2) New P/S Pump
3) Built expedition cabinets in the back
4) Installed a Warn Winch
5) Installed my ham & CB radios in a Tuffy Center Console

Is the trail ride to "Pozo" suitable for a beginner? as I am new to the LC scene. It sounds like some of the steep areas all have bypasses.

If you see this this rig there be sure to say hi !, I'll have a Mombassa RTT on top, and be sure to check out the cabinets in the back.

Mark

Mark,

Yes, it's an easy ride.
It's a Forest Service road. A friend did it a couple of years ago in his Civic...

Regards

Alvaro

Hey Mark,

Good to see you will be getting more wheeling out of that rig than my Brother did and that she is getting the attention she deserves.

I will be down there and will definitely say hello as I want to see what you have done since I snapped that pic.

We won't be going to Pozo this year.

The National Forest is Closed due to Fire Danger. This includes the road to Pozo.

Still, plenty of fun on the beach and dunes.

So how much should I air down my tires? And what the hell am I supposed to do when it's time to leave and my wheels are rubbing the asphalt?

I'm new to this. And it would be really embarrassing to end up trapped in sand....

Air down to about 15 psi...and when you leave just up the street there is a Chevron with a 4 hose station to fill up. You will be fine driving to the pumps at 15 psi. Additionally, any driving around town while aired down should be okay.

My first year, full stock, I was running 8psi....didn't know a damn thing about this board or my truck.
