Another beautiful trail in the Sierra Nevadas

My buddy Matt and I decided to make a quick run upto the sierras for a final trip of the fall before the storms roll in and the forest service closes the gates. We chose the Old Emigrant trail which goes from bear river resevoir to silver lake~20miles, because it has som class 4 obstacles (1-6 scale) and it has beatiful views of the surrounding Sierras. Here are a few highlights and a link to the rest of the pics.

Ya it was a pretty nice trail. I am fortunate to wheel it this season, we were debating whether it would still be open or not. The snow and ice defintetly added a some difficulty, but all is well. The views that the trail offers are great, and at the top of sqwaw ridge we had beautiful views down the valley and surrounding peaks. I didn't get a chance to post up before I left, but I would love to go again in the spring/summer when the snow melts. If the 'storm' that is coming this weekend fizzles out like the last few have, we are gonna try and go again next weekend. I'll try to get the link to the rest of the pics working

Calicruiser,
Where is the link with the rest of the pics bro?
Looks like a good time!
Ive said this before...your rig looks bitchin... I hope someday, mine will be like yours!

Im soooo wanting to go wheelin right now. Im driving around up here in the Sierras checking out trails from the highway thinking to myself..."Hey, I wonder where that goes?", "If I pick that line, I bet I could make that..." "When the SOA is done, I could probably do that."
It goes on and on!

Thanks for sharing!

EDIT: link to the rest of the pictures works now

Here is the link to the rest, unfortunately my cameras batteries died half way throught the trail so i could not get picks of the nd half. It was also hard to get pics of my rig since I was driving solo and I wasn't concerned with pics in the hard spots.

link to album here

Thanks for the compliments guys, If you have never run the trail I suggest you run it, it is beautiful. I would say that it is roughly 1.5 hours to the "trailhead"@bear river resevoir from sacramento area.

Happy trails

Dylan

Does this trail start on the other side of the reservoir from the bear river reservoir resort? Is this different from the Pardoe Trail? I camped at the Sugar Pine campgrounds of the resort back in July. That is a beautiful area. I want to run the Pardoe Trail. I didn't realize it was there until I got back home and looked at my maps.

You know I am a little confused myself. my buddies seirra nevada 4wd trail book calls it the old emigrant trail. I have always known it as the pardoes trail because it passes by pardoe lake. I think that they share the same route until the plasses trading post site where it splits off towards to top of squaw ridge. to the left, back to hwy 88 is old emigrant, and straight is a continuation of pardoe trail, I think. To be honest I am confused, but the trailhead is indeed around the back side of bear resevoir and I believe road number 8N03. I'll check my maps.
Anyway, it is a beautiful trail and was a lil challenging this time due to ice and snow covering the trail.

hopefully another norcal guy will step in and confirm/clear this up...hint hint

Dylan

EDIT: I got some clarification on the trail - It is the 'Pardoe trail' that runs from bear river to plasses trading post site and the y's off back to tragedy springs, (hwy.88) via mud lake.
