Built lid for the CDN M101!!
Built it to open in middle, easy access from both sides and both ends. 3/4 inch sandply plywood, routered the edgees, painted it afterwards and wrapped it with military vinyl. Used carriage bolts so could not be taken apart from outside, now will concentrate on locking mechanism. RTT is going to be on a telescoping rollbar roofrack type system. WIll be working on that in next couple of weeks. Middle support is pressure treated 2 x 4. WIll also be installing a rubber weatherstripping around top edge under lid and a strip of the vinyl will go over the middle support to cover gap and hinges. Cheap top for around $150, all quotes for the metal top I was wanting was around $500, so this will do for now.

thanks fellas, will be working on the rack system this weekend along with painting my newly galvanized BJ42 frame and picking up my newly rebuilt 3B engine, so lots of work to do. I will post pics and info when we tackle it hopefully this weekend it will be finished, actually not that much to it. I will have 4 small 36" vertical 1.5" diameter pipe on each corner of the trailer, i will then have a smaller diameter pipe that will slide into each vertical pipe and will have a radius bend or will run the length of the trailer to the other end if you can picture that. Then I will have a pin system so that I can raise the rack system high enough to allow the lids to open fully which will also allow me to mount a shower skirt on the bottom of my Eezi RTT. When finished it will lower alomost almost all the way to the lid. I amtrying to think of a way to use a small electric powered or small manual boat trailer winch to somehow raise and lower the rack system, other wise will take to people to extend the rack system up.

She turned out dandy..I'd also put a pc. of self stick weatherstrip (foam) between the two pcs.(hinge side/door side) to slow down water infiltration. Be careful not to make it too thick or it would become hinge bound.
good job!

Looks nice.
Have the biggest fattest friend you have climb up there and wiggle or dance. You keep an eye on the four clamps holding the uprights.
This would simulate a RTT and two adults in a bit of a wind storm. The RTT act like a big Kite and catch a lot of wind with the slightest breeze.

How about playin' "hide the salami"..does that count as hard use?
The only thing im a little concerned about is the "down" pressure on the clamps. Those clamps are designed for a stationary load (as in just hanging there). I think the Uni-slut is heavy enough though to take some serious punishment. Looks good Roberto

tested it at its highest point that it will b when using RTT and shower skirt, we added up to about 800lbs, wiggled on it up there, seems to hold good, we were a little concerned with the uprights possible sliding down so we have a fix 4 that later on. from top of lid to bottom of horizontal tube is 38" when all the way up so the lids can open all the way up, other wise will be all the way down to about 20" from lid to bottom of horizontal pole.

yeah, I have a Eezi 1400 ready to put on once all is finished and painted, I keep getting sidetracked with the trailer for I am up to my neck in my BJ42 restoration which is on the other side of the trailer and under diesel section under BJ42 tear down complete. Working on rebuilding axles today. Thanks
Rob

Rob, any work on the trailer? Are you concerned about rust on the conduit where it was cut?

going to be painting the conduit black to match frame, I just mounted the 2 military fuel can holders up front and remounted the parking brake to a diff position and added a bottle opener and built the table that will go off from the fender outwards 3.5 feet x 2 feet wide. Now i have to make some props for the lids.

Great ideas for the trailer. I like the lid, and might do something similar.
