Just Curious....

Where is everyone finding there trailers? I have looked over and over for one and cant find one ANYWHERE!! I live in southern Missouri, and these trailers are hard to come by, so any info is greatly appreciated. This forum is the main reason I joined the site. I have had it in my head for a long time to build a camping/hunting/family friendly off road trailer. Great build ups and information on them!! Keep up the good work

I found mine on the local forum here. I jumped on it the minute I saw it. Didn't haggle or anything. I'd been looking for a long time too. I think I got lucky. I guess I'll find out on it's maiden voyage this Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy and good luck.

I checked Ebay, Craigslist, Mud and M101CDN : Canadian M101, 1/4 Ton Trailer daily. Finally found mine 30 miles from my house. Good luck.

With Craigslist you can get an RSS feed of search results. Throw that into Google Reader, make Reader part of your iGoogle homepage, and you don't have to worry about missing anything.

You can do the same for some other sites too, such as Oodle.

Thanks!

RSS -> Real Simple Syndication.

The best way to think of it, is there is a configuration file that you put into a program such as Google reader. The program then "knows" when the website has been updated, and can show you all/or a summary of the content.

Let's say you like to read the news, but you have maybe 10 sites you like, each giving a different type of story (entertainment, sports, etc). Instead of having to go to each site looking for updated content, you setup a RSS reader to pull down/alert you of updated content on the 10 sites.

By setting it up in google reader, then puttingit on your iGoogle page, you only load that one page, and it brings down the content for you.

Cowboy, where in South Missouri are you? There is a gov't auction site that lists all kinds of stuff, including 416's, although they are a little hard to find. They are listed by location and if you are not too far from Ft. Leonard Wood, that might be a source. I'll see if I can find the site.

[Hijack]

First off, it helps if you make iGoogle your homepage (since you can add Google Reader right to it, along with a lot of other stuff...news, weather, quotes, movie times, gmail preview.....).

iGoogle

You can then hit "Add Stuff" ( Add gadgets to your homepage ) and search for "Google Reader" to add to your homepage.

Once that's done, you can add the RSS to Google Reader. Here's an example of Craigslist for my area for trailers:
craigslist medford | for sale / wanted search for "trailer"
http://medford.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=trailer&format=rss

You can also just search, and in the bottom right corner click where it says "RSS". That *SHOULD* generate an RSS feed (then copy/paste the link into Google Reader). If it doesn't, just pretty much add &format=rss to the URL (for Craigslist, but suprisingly that'll work for a lot of other sites too) to any search and you should get the RSS version.

For Oodle and other places, the procedure is essentially the same. Ebay used to have an RSS search, dunno what happened to it (couldn't find it last time I looked).

You can do a lot of slick stuff with Google Reader, and quite a few places are actually building support of RSS into the pages now.
