And finally took the trailer for a road test, 70mph on the highway, 50mph on a gravel road, trailer towed well. Only problems i had is the fact that i have no weight in the trailer and no shocks mounted yet, trailer was very bouncy in town.

I love this build!
On your independent suspension are you concerned about castor and camber as far as wheel alignment goes? What did you end up using for bushings? Did you install the complete straight axle and then cut it? I would like to try and build a similar set up but some of the reading I have done on suspensions has me second guessing the idea. I don't know how important those adjustments would be on a trailer. __________________ Brad T 88 HJ61 "Marmaduke " 12H-T, A440, extreme valve body, PI, cable lockers, PTO winch, SOA, 2" body lift, FF, ARP studs, Longfields, 5.29s, 38x14.5R16 Toyo MTs... 78 BJ 40/42/60 |

Hey Dude, I started off with a straight axle made the trailing arms and mounts on the frame then cut the axle. For the bushings i purchase the hub shells and the bushing from metal tech, the bushing are from jeep xj lower control arm. The first road test was a bit scary, trailer was very bouncy in town (no shocks and 35" mud kings) and having the lock and roll hitch, i knew that if it wanted to roll over it could. Over all the trailer towed very straight, I will find a set of shocks next time i am home then try the road test again. Scott |
