CAD Doodling...
Thanks to a fellow mudder I now have a 60 to fit my trailer to.
![]() This is still in concept stage, as there are so many diffeent variables to consider. This will probably change a few more times yet as I keep seeing cool ideas around the place. But anyway, I have a set of 33x12.5 kumhos in the shed as well as some steel and the rear leafs from my 60. So I may as well build a camping/offraod trailer. It will have a pull out kitchen box, roofrack and fold down rear tailgate that all lifts off if I need to go and get firewood etc. The deck will be 3mm chequer plate and the tailgate ply. The internal dims are 1250x2000mm (long enough to sleeep on) and I will fit surge brakes (discs) and shocks to the axle. Basic requiremnts are that it be strong practical and versatile. Here it is so far...

Good one, nice wheels on your trailer!
I have a version like that somwhere, sides ended up too high from the ground for my liking.

![]() Hey, I was in a hurry. ![]() This one does sit up higher, you should see it with the lid on. I have a fake model of the back of the Pig. It locates pretty accurately where the rear window is in relation to everything. I need to play with it some more............when I have the time. __________________ 1972 FJ55 "Geirdriful" named after one of the Valkyries Check out my build thread: http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=165633 Some more good pics of the Pig here too: http://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-pi...-iron-pig.html Maid Marion, "Why, you speak treason!" Nice.
I suggest you install "running boards" outboard of the box long enough to support a gas or water can on both the front and back of the fender. And design the belly so you can easily carry your spare underneath. When I had mine welded up I made the mistake of not providing enough room for four cans and the tire would be better off hidden underneath.... ![]() Custom trailers are fun. John Davies Spokane WA |
