Well my CDN M101 weighs 750lbs and is only a 1/4 ton trailer, and these are 3/4 ton so have to of course weigh more. There is also a sweet Pioneer Military cabinet under military trailers, has the whole trailer enclosed, really cool

Comfortably, no. Those things are massive. But I'm not backing that up with any facts.

Pulling it with your FJ shouldn't be a problem. This trailer is just bigger than M416 type. They are usually pulled behind a 2.5 and 5 ton truck. Pulling and stopping something are two different things. On the trail it's to big to be pulling with the FJ. In my opinion that's why you can find this model all over. Keep looking?

Those US M101s are available all day long on surplus sites. It is the CDN 101 and 416 that are getting more difficult to find.

The US M101 3/4 ton trailer weighs 1340 lb empty.

It's designed to carry 1500 lbs cross country or 2250 lbs on highway.

The early trailers do not have service brakes, only parking brakes. Given the weight of the trailer, and the payload, this is something to keep in mind.

When level, the lunette in the lower position is 21 7/8" off the ground. You need a very tall pintle setup for the trailer to ride anywhere close to level.

The military tires are 900x16, on 16x6.50 rims. These have the same bolt pattern as the 1950-1968 Dodge M37 3/4 ton Weapons Carrier/Cargo Truck.

These trailers, frankly, are best used in conjunction with a 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup at a minimum, because of the weight, ride height and lack of brakes.

The above info applies to the M101 and M101A1. They differ only in minor details.

The M01A2 would be the trailer to get if someone insists on towing it with a smaller vehicle, because it has surge brakes. It also has CUCV pattern rims (8-lug Chevy).

Shamelessly cut and pasted from another website:

M101: Five lug rims (Budd, 6.50Hx16, same as on the M37 familly of 3/4 ton trucks), 900x16 tires, brake handles have the "squeeze" trigger release and are mounted so that the move in an arc paralell to the front bed panel. Parking brakes only.

M101A1: Same as the M101 except the parking brake handles are the flip type and move in an arc perpendicular to the front bed panel.

M101A2: Surge brakes in addition to the mechancal parking brakes, hubs and rims/tires changed to match those on the Chevy CUCV's.

M101A3: Same as the M101A2 except the hubs and rims/tires changed to match the HMMWV.

The cargo racks and top bows are a nice touch. You seldom see them on a civie Bantam.

I thought the civilian bantam trailers had the ball type coupler instead of the pintle. Is that just a M100 with the tailgate cut in?
