Round or Oval Poll

Howdy folks...

Here is my delima, thought I would throw it out to the peanut gallery to see what you think.

I am going to get a set of front and rear clearance lights for my trailer. Which one would you buy if it were your coin?

The oval ones are roughly 4x2" and have the ability to serve double duty as marker lights and turn signal indicators. I would paint the bezel something other than chrome.

Or...

Round lights, smaller, just under a 2" diameter, and only single mode, I woud paint the base again to match the trailer.

Price is about the same... thoughts?

Wondering if you NEED clearance lights on this size of trailer?
The M101's came without them and are they not required here in BC.
I think you need something more classic like your tail-lights.
Keep up the good work

FYI: I don't know what they are but I really like the lights on my AT Horizon. I believe they are LED and mounted in rubber 'pucks' so that they can be pushed in to recess when on tough trails...or in the event of a roll over () they push right in saving the lamp.

Yes. AT uses round on the sides and oval on the rear. The only other thing I would add if its not too complicated is to make the side markers be turn signals also. Probably not a big deal but it just seems to be a good idea as long as your going to install side markers.

the oval looks better to me since the mounting area could work as a ramp for brush and such to not tear the light off.

Okay, maybe this will clairify things a bit.

These will be mounted to the slanted side box sections (red out back, amber up front) They are for clearance lights... and because I like lights!

In the second pic... this will be the main tail lamp/turn signal brake lights. Stock fj40 lamps.

The ones for the poll are additional lights not the main lights.

I still say oval, the tail's are close to being oval, so IMHO, rounds would look hammered.

(I like lights also, especially led's).

What about backup lights?

Since you are taking extreme care in your build, now seems like a good time to integrate dedicated reverse lights. Either reverse only or switched from cab. Just a thought.

Backup in the dark with wimpy lights isn't fun (ask my poor boat)...
