Shock supports m101?

I have built a lid w/ rack for my m101 canadien. What length shock supports are needed and what weight and placement. My lid opens from the side and probably weighs 80 lbs. Any pics of mounting locations would be aappreciated.

We are having the same problem there my friend, side opening approximately 6 inches off center of the top, and 6 inches from the rear hinge location this is a start, you may need to adjust it so it is wise to use a multiple hole angle to determine angle properly prior to permanent install. Use a shock at least 10 percent greater than the weight of the top with the tent in place, 120 pound minimum, length to be determined by opening distance at the pre determined location. I used all above criteria and missed only on the shock capacity. I was too light. Have fun Jim

shocks

Any length can work - its all in the angle they are mounted on. Takes a bit of trial and error to get it dialed in. I used the AC10250 on that page above - approx 27.80 "

I found some shock supports at local rv dealer. I have 80 pound shocks, 27 length. I should have went a little stronger. I plan on keeping spare tire on rack for now.

Should work out fine - 2 X 80 lb shocks should lift 160 lbs no problem with the right angle.

If you still need some advice on mounting the shocks email me and I will send you dimensions for two different length shock systems. Rubiconcruiser@msn.com

I got it the first time. Lucky I guess. You just have to make sure the shock tube is below the trailer rim, plus a couple of inches lower to allow for the end of the ram to collapse all the way. ( still confusing) I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Good show. shock does not need to be completely depressed to close properly. It is in the book McMaster Carr.com
