Can you give us some details on the safety chains you use? Actually, they look like cables that hold their coiled shape.

Thanks for sharing this awesome build.

I will get to it fellas, our camera is down and not wanting to work for squat... I will post up some pics when I get a chance.

As for the Chains, they are actually coiled safety cables... I have enough squeeks and rattles already in the cruiser without giving the trailer any more excuses to make some noise. I'll take a close up next time the camera works.

I got mine at the local hardware store, but I have seen them carried at WalMart. Just make sure they are rated for your needs.

I managed to save a few pics of our first campout after the camera melt down. One for color two for a good trailer shot. Thanks for all the kind words, next winter I will build up the kitchen and cargo drawers as well as all the other little things that need to get done on it, but for now, we are really enjoying all the hard work when we get to get out camping.

Are those leaves dead or is fall hitting where-ever you took those pics?

What else can be said..It's a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The standard by which all other builds can be compared to. Unwrap the folding chair..pop open the cooler..and crank the top off a cold one Drew and enjoy!! You've earned it!!

Nope, there is a pine beetle that is killing all the pines of Grand County in Colorado... can you say forrest fire?

It is sad, but the Aspen, and Blue Spruce are unaffected.

Thanks!

We got a new camera so I am going to go back and fill in a few of the details to get it this far.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! We got rained out last weekend as we wanted to go camping in the RMNP but we had steady rain for 2-3 days and the open top 40 into the high country would have been miz to get there, once there I think we would have been fine.

More to follow.

Drew

Hey Drew,

Great job on the trailer, really like the design i have been following the build for a long time, the finished product looks like it belongs behind the 40. Very well thought out, looking forward to some action shots and pictures of the trailer set up in camp.

Thanks for the great build thread Drew, I'm sure you've inspired many to start there own builds.

Well, we got out and about yesterday and today in the RMNP. Nice having a world class park an hour from your house. Unfortunatley, we were the talk of the campsite with several folks asking if we were going to have an "open house."

We let all the folks poke their head in and comment on things, I offered a few of the guys with kerbillion dollar RV's to trade straight up... not takers.

You can see the snow kissed Longs Peak in the background and yesterday we had a heard of nearly 150 elk hanging out grazing in the valley below. Fajitas for dinner and a nice nights sleep. Only issue is the crappy rain fly of the tent decided last night it would let go and flap in the breeze. So at 2am I got out and lashed it down with some bungees... ahh rest after that. We woke up to sun shine, elk bugeling, and bacon and scrambled eggs with left over peppers and onions.... I love being outside!

Onto a few pics...

We got one of those Kelty Carport Deluxes when Costco was getting rid of them, my in laws bought it for me and I have to say... it would be worth the full price. Lots of covered space, easy setup take down, and the sides can be pitched down like walls, rolled up like a tarp, and you can set the two ends that are on the ground up on two poles to make a canopy/sun shade.

Great unit, I love it! Covers the entrance, ladder and has enough room for two zero gravity chairs and a small table for when the weather stinks. We had a few hours of rain yesterday and it was great to have the shelter from the storm and not have to be in the tent only. Here is a peak inside.

Can you say redneck? I looked like tarpville next to multi-hundy thousand RVs... priceless.

Redneck Hell!!! All those RVer's were probadly wishing they were you...light, mobile, and having a blast! That arched tarp is da' bomb, and looks like all space is used effectively. Thanks for the action pix

P.S. I thought you were going to do the "tarp mod" on the RTT?
