Well, got in my first shake down run with the trailer. Today me and the trailer went:

*all around town.
*on a twisty mountain canyon road.
*on the interstate.
*up an 11,000 ft pass
*down an 11,000 ft pass
*through rain.

ALL IS WORKING AND SHE TOWS GREAT!

Pics to follow, I am trying to sneak my trailer into a few magazines out there before tearing it up too much.

What is absurd? Building the perfect trailer with zero compromises and perfect fit & finish, or being proud of it when you are finished?

I think this was a compliment, plain and simple.

This project has been a thing of great beauty from the get-go. Drew has provided a lot of insight, great planning and some great sources for everyone who has seen this thread (which is approaching the population of Wyoming) and he has a right to be proud, but he's not a boastful kinda guy.
I've learned a lot, stolen a few ideas and been encouraged to build my own. Nothing compared to this, however.
Anyway, Drew, you are a stone-cool dude with some well-devloped fab skills and I(we) appreciate you sharing.
This is a great project that has and will continue to inspire others...exactly, precisely one of the purposes of the MudBoard....I think

It's all cool

Indeed. Thanks to the OP for putting in the extra effort to share the trailer build with the class.

First time for me reading this thread so I only skimmed. Still, totally full of win and awesome.

I am talking with a few magazines and holding off on all the finished pics until I hear back from a few of them. I would like to give someone an exclusive if they desire. I always thought it would be fun to see something in print. It may not happen but a few mags are interested.

I have been using it though, and it works GREAT! If I don't hear back from a few of the mags soon, I might build a dedicated site for build consolidation and dropping all the chat in the thread. There will be a few surprises when the final pics are revealed...

Thanks for all the kind words. I would do about a kerbillion (to steal Kowboys number) things different, but I am super stoked at how things came out, and ready to get lots of use out of it before the next "whatever."

I mentioned to my wife my desire to build a Toyota extra cab or chopped 100 series with a full camper conversion in place of the bed/rear of the truck, she rolled her eyes... I hope it was in excitment!

Hey, I love your trailer. Have you seen the one we're doing on expo? Have any recomendations related to what you see so far?

Yeah, I have been following your progess and it looks great man. I would only suggest getting as many of the "accessories" in hand as possible before going all the way to paint. Fitting things, mounting things, welding in tabs and brakets are all easier when you are in the fab portion of the build!

Otherwise, think light and strong... you are doing great, just keep it up. Have you doubled up and posted up here yet? Folks would love to see it.

Drew

How do the dimple-dies work? Do you need a press? "Them are cool" as we say here in Hicksburg.

Well Mike is building it for me, but yes, from what I understand, you drill a hole, then put the dies in it, and press it. whallah! dimpled hole.

Magazines take too long and have too many expectations of exclusivity for me...

Here you go, this is for all my friends who have followed my thread from the start! I will post up more action pics after we replace our dead camera.

My wife bought me the sweet TOYOTA decal for the back as a birthday gift a few months back, everything is working great, I will post up a few details I have left out over the past month or so. MUD is my build up home...

Next up is the slide out kitchen, and storage boxes, finish all the interior lighting, start the plumbing and fire up the new water heater!

Looks great Drew! FYI: Flying rocks/sand/gravel from the rear pulling rig's wheels have completely pummeled every front and side angled surface on the front of my AT . I wish I would have tried to have mitigated this sooner. But you might want to seriously consider some type of mud flaps. Maybe something like the Rock Tamer Cabela's -- Rock Tamer Mud Flaps

or similar. But your nice paint job will take a beating if you don't do something.

Yeah, I drove it up here and went through one puddle of snow run off on the highway and the trailer got COVERED. Some removeable mud flaps are in order for sure. I am also contemplating a screen similar to the King Kampers on the leading edge of the trailer too. Thanks for the tip!

Actually, I had a buddy watch the tongue for me and I tried to get it to flip backwards and couldn't while in the tent... and that is with zero water in the front, the batteries, axle placement and luck are all playing into the trailers stability... which is impressive. Still, I do plan on a drop down leg for the rear as I want to mount sliding drawers with a kitchen on it and another for cargo.

Thanks fellas for the kind words!
