M101 Project Done For now
Well after two months of working on it. Stripped down, sanded, and painted its finally useable. Paint is not to spec. It matches the country around here. I'll be doing some mods in the future. Thanks for all the info on this site.

I think it looks great!!!!
Even though not to spec, I think you did a good job with the desert camo pattern. Your 101 is nice and ready to roll. Good job!! Did you attach the shovel mount to the fender or body, and how? Also, did you paint the leaf springs as well? __________________ 1997 FZJ80: OME 2.5" Heavy, Slee front + IPF 900XSD, Slee Light & Aux Harness, 255/85 BFG MT 2005 Porsche 911(997) Carrera Cabriolet I used to get high on life, 'til I realized it was laced with idiots. |

I stripped the leaf springs with a wire wheel. The shovel is held with Quickfists to the fender.

Well I couldnt leave it the way it was. I built a lid, had the local welding shop bend the metal, welded a rack onto it and some front protection. Only thing left I really want is a spare tire holder. Im hoping the tongue is long enough after adding front tubing

Is that a bottle opener bolted to tthe front left corner of the trailer? Or a tie down ring/loop?
Looks like a bottle opener! Cool! ![]() Mike |

looks nice, maybe to much air in tires or not enough weight on the trailer

Man I'm jealous, both of the trailer and the Jarbidge trip. Maybe you could write up a trip report with a few pictures and post it up? I know myself and the rest of the guys in BBCNN would be interested.

Well the trailer towed flawless. I need to put a better seal on the lid to prevent dust. And attach a spare tire mount underneath.
It was towed 200 miles on dirt roads without a problem. __________________ 68 Fj40 M101 Trailer 05Tundra 07 Fj |

Might I suggest throwing a Plexiglass protection layer over the rear window of the tow vehicle to guard against rocks? I've heard couple of folks having cracked rear window from towing the military trailers while off road. The theory is that the rocks getting kicked out by tow vehicle's rear tires bounce of the front surface of the trailer and break the window.
I'm digging your shop. PM me with details please! Thanks. __________________ TLCA # 15941 KE5LED Currently working PA Last edited by alia176; 07-20-07 at 08:08 AM. |

Mine doesnt throw rocks forward. I didnt go with a larger tire just for that reason. Also my tread isnt too agressive so that wont be a problem. My shop is 2 bays, 36x36, waste oil heated, beer fridge, pole barn style with full insulation.

Not throwing forward, I was referring to the tow vehicle throwing rock backwards! Only time will tell!
Nice size for the shop! __________________ TLCA # 15941 KE5LED Currently working PA |

found m101 trailers.
Was looking for m101 trailer for myself, the place in B.C is sold out.
However, west ed equipment still have some left. . They have been used and have dings with some rust patches, not much remains with original lights. Hope this helps some-body looking? -cheers |
