Hey Exiled welcome back, for starters the Yakima or Thule racks (preference/availability) are the score. 36 inch spacing max between bars. Will handle anything you can mount to it. My tent weighs in at 125 pounds, it is a comfortable ride. Raises from the rear as does youors, and locks wirh a tie down and a padlock if the need arises.. Grab life and use the systems designed here they will serve you well.

That is a nice setup, Jacque. I checked it out at the meeting last week...

Thanks Carson, I took it out this weekend for the first time and I'm very happy with the set up.

hello,
just been reading through lots of threads today and loved this one. Thinking about getting a Sankey trailer as I'm in England for a trailer tent setup.
I saw this company at a land rover festival last year and their gear looked great. Might be a few ideas there for anyone thinking of building one.
regards,
fred

With a family of 5 we upgraded to the "non offroad model". The shower, hot water heater and furnace come in handy. I did a spring over and mounted some 235/75 at tires onto the larger than stock 15 " wheels.

Cool camper Douglas.

Now just drive around the world, pick up a few hot nurses and then write a book about it. Oh yeah and break a few trailer axles.

Alf

i think I already read that article in toyota trails. Possibly when the children are grown (the youngest is 3) and out of the house I may be able to retire and scale down to a proper "expedition" trailer and find the time to use it. Until then, very little coolness factor but the current model nonetheless suites our needs. It gets us further off paved roads than a minivan towing a stock popup would.

This thread is what got me started into looking for a off road trailer. Here is what I have to show. It is a adventure trailer made in Africa. It has metric hitch etc... I am currently looking to change it around to standard and get rid of the surge brakes for electric.
