I built these stands with the intent of putting my Axles on em
to do knuckle swaps for disc brakes.

I am fishing for Ideas for securing the axles to the stands.

I am thinking some grippy rubber under the axle and drilling holes
downward for ubolts.

Thats what I got. Hoping you guys can come up with something
a little more elegant. or multifunctional

personally, I used some sawhorses when dismantling axles. The problem I encountered was the unexpected rotation of an axle housing while the differential was installed. Tightening hubs, knuckles, etc....puts pressure on the whole assembly forcing it to move. I think you are asking the right question but it might be as simple as some tie down straps ratcheted to your stand. Perhaps weld a couple of tabs to your stands to assist with the lock down.

Personally I'd want a V-notch to put the axle in, then some straps if more stability is needed.

Now you just need a cradle to go between the two stands with either a v-shaped hole or some bolts to hold third members.

Looks nice.

not flollowing you

Are talkin about something to aid in the removal of the third member?
Or just support at the third member.

The ubolts and the rubber seem to do a good job of holding the 3rd
horizontal.

For installation and removal I intend to rotate the axle with the 3rd facing up. And grabbing the 3rd w/a strap and a cherry picker and lifting it straight off.

The current snag is I need a 50mm socket. Will get one today.
hopefully tonight I will find out if the 3rd will come off that way.

I meant something to hold a 3rd member by itself so you can work on it, (set up gears, install lockers etc).
