Mechanic in Clarksville/Nashville??
I got my first FJ60 about a month ago, 1982 with 150K on it. Can ya'll recommend a good mechanic that knows their way around a '60 in the Clarksville or Nashville area? I'm in the Army and my do-it-yourself time is limited. Thanks.

Knuckles are Ugly
Really, the first thing I need to do is rebuild the knuckles...lots of grease coming out. The engine leaks from every possible point, but it runs good and doesn't seem to burn oil, so it'll wait a little. Spring and shocks are next after the knuckles. The back ones are frowning at me. After my next trip to Iraq I may be off to Urban Cruisers in Atlanta for work. Engine rebuild if it needs it, if not, paint and interior.
I'm a little short on special tools but have beer. I'd be glad to learn from anyone that would be willing to help me with the knuckle job. Can it be done in a weekend? Thanks, Tandy __________________ ______________________________________ 82' FJ60 - Needs paint and lots of work, DD TLCA # 18925 |

For those items you want to have done in a shop, I would recommend Brent Mann at Trailworks in Gallatin, 615-451-9910, Trailworksoffroad.com. The shop works on all makes of 4WD's but Brent owns and wheels Toyota's.
The knuckles can be done in a day if you have all the parts on hand ( TPI has a good complete kit), the club owns the factory set-up tool which I am taking to Chris at the meeting this Thursday. If you don't have the Toyota repair manual, you should get one. __________________ Please help save the Upper Tellico OHV area, Donate to the Rescue Tellico Fund http://www.sfwda.org/trails/tellico/donate.html ![]() Roger FJ-40/6.2L Diesel STLCA White Trash of the Elwood Chapter VP SFWDA |
