Buyin', Sellin', Tradin'
Saw some other club houses had one of these threads. Figure we can make it a sticky. I'll start out.
I am looking for a decent straight split hood for a 40. Does not have to be pretty as I am going to sand blast it before painting. Also a set of rear barn doors. Same goes. Ugly is fine but straight with minimal rust.
Don't hit me in the mouth too bad!
Edit: Got one! Thanks Malphrus!

hey hugh/chris,
i have one off a '71 that has a dent on the leading edge and that's it. it's yours for the taking...maybe you could use it til you found another one or something like that.
i also have one or two of the chrome strips...i think one of them is in pretty good shape, i can't remember.
somebody "bought" them from me about a year ago and i boxed em up but they never sent payment, so they're somewhere in my garage...

Maybe. Depends on the shipping of a TV for work and a Quarter panel for a guy in Indiana.

I just saw a tail gate in the forsale section but can't find it now. I am also looking for barn doors for " the project" as stated above.

I have a complete disc brake swap for a drum brake 40. Comes with knuckles, arms, spindle, hub, wheel bearings, backing plates, outer birfields, and rotors and calipers. I believe the calipers and rotors are useable if you turned the rotors but i would highly suggest using FJ40 rotors and 4runner calipers..
It does not come with lockouts, i do have a set for sale tho.
Parts are in atlanta but can deliver to gsmtr.

Very low rust 1978 FJ55 any interest?
I have a 78 55 with minumal rust and am toying with the idea of selling. This truck came from a West Texas rancher with what he says 95,000 miles on it, the odometer says 72,000 but stopped working at that point. I've had it for about 3years now with the intent to restore to a weekend grocery getter. The truck is an unmolested complete all original , except color, wheels ,Holley carb, shckles, A/C, and front seat upholstery. This is an exceptional truck for a restoration or daily driver. It is too nice to turn into a rock crawler. Here is a link with some pictures

Chris,
A '78 is too old for mandatory smog testing any where in the state. My '81 FJ40s have been exempt for several years now which is one less hassle/expense to deal with. It seems like 25 years is the 'magic' age for exemption from smog testing, so a lot of 60's should even be covered now.

I wish Tenn. felt the same way. If it is a 1975 or later it has to be smogged., But only in Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga. Go figure!

Sean's 87 is kicking his ass. Any idea how to get the EGR valve of it without ruining anything? The one I gave him came off the beast and that was easy with brute strength due to the lack of parts!

Chris,
Several years ago the EGR on my red '81 40 needed replacement and several bolts were broken in the process of replacing it. The most annoying was one in the intake manifold, because I put it back together at the time but took the intake & exhaust manifold off later to drill out that broken bolt (which also required a helicoil to complete the repair). So my reply is no I don't have a secret to ensure nothing else gets damaged when replacing the EGR.
However, when ever I remove a steel bolt from an aluminum housing (like the intake manifold), I use a lot of anti-seeze compound on the treads to help reduce the potential for a galvanic corrosion problem with the steel bolt in aluminum. Where I have done this, I have not had broken bolts later when I have needed to remove the bolts.
Good luck Sean
