Would you happen to know what kind of places would sell the permits in that area? I will be arriving Friday evening, so I should have time on Friday or 1st thing Saturday morning but I have never purchased a TWRA permit before so I would like to avoid earning the dunce cap if possible. We have been told there is a store or mini mart by the exit that sells them. I will be up there around noon to locate the nearest place. Call me when you get in.

If anyone needs something after arriving on Friday you can call me at 865-803-6595. We're nearby in Knoxville and could bring whatever up with us on Sat morning. - Shawn
p.s. That being said, 99% of your camping/4-wheeling needs can be purchased at Adult World (exit 141).

to all you new guys, TNFJ40 from knoxville is an old timer in the tlca. notice his membership number is 1050. that's 21 members before my number of 1071. folks, those are numbers from the old days. so old in fact, that i bought a cruiser from shawn years ago and sold it to Jesus. He had a camel for trade, but shawn did not need one at the time.
shawn has been a long time customer at TPI. so i can vouch for his "paid dues" of knuckle bustin land cruiser expirence. and it looks like he'll be joining up saturday morning. so if anyone breaks down 20 miles from camp at 2am in the morning, in the cold wet ice and snow on this trip, be sure to go see shawn for help. i'm sure he'll love to assist you. hey shawn, you'll never forgive me for that one, will ya? ha! bob@tpi |

You may not have to wait for the morning, because it might get there in three hours or so (ground speed is suppose to be around 30 mph). __________________ Larry Downey Kennesaw, GA 1986 BJ70, 1981 FJ40, 1995 FZJ80 1981 FJ40, 1986 BJ70 (Projects) |

It is just rain now. If it was colder, this amount of moisture would generate several inches of snow, so north Georgia and further in TN could see the snow if freezing temps hold through the night there. My kids are hoping this rain turns to ice by morning for the obvious school closings.
Good luck. __________________ Larry Downey Kennesaw, GA 1986 BJ70, 1981 FJ40, 1995 FZJ80 1981 FJ40, 1986 BJ70 (Projects) |

I recommend either a ceramic or the milk house type heater that shuts off when tipped over so you don't burn your tent. __________________ Please help save the Upper Tellico OHV area, Donate to the Rescue Tellico Fund http://www.sfwda.org/trails/tellico/donate.html ![]() Roger FJ-40/6.2L Diesel STLCA White Trash of the Elwood Chapter VP SFWDA |

Bob, I can think of nothing better than getting out of my warm bed at 2:00 AM to go out in the cold/snow to retrieve a Cruiser. Thanks for offering.

Well Roger, Maris, Larry, and I are here drinking beer and sitting by a roaring fire. Pork chops by chef Rogér were delicious and yall missed a feast!
You can get permits here at the camp site and we're still planning on meeting up here and hopefully heading out around 10. Weather is here wish you were beautiful... Bob...where are you??? We thought you'd be here by now! Cell service is good and the campground is nice. We're the only ones here I believe. There are two cabins eight next to our RV site. I believe they are open if anyone wants them Sent from my iPhone! __________________ Please donate to the Rescue Tellico Fund and help save the Tellico OHV area --Todd Chattanooga, TN 1980 FJ40, H41/0rion, SOA, 38.5 TSL/SX, LF Beadlocks, Longs, Sag pwr steer w/ ram assist. Made it home and now de-stinkified. It was great to see everybody this weekend. Roger, thanks for the great food and diesel lit campfires. My truck said 9 degrees this morning on the little temp gage. Hope all of you were able to get back safely. Here's some pics I thought I'd share. Sorry, not many wheelin' shots but I was busy driving myself. Enjoy.

I just love Landcruiser Larry's BJ70! That thing is the coolest truck I've ever seen! I wasn't aware it has a 24 volt electrical system

Caught the end of my bumper on a tree as I was backing up. Didn't realize it pulled out this bad, oh well, looks like i need more support bracing.

Thanks all for letting us Ford guys tag along! My 60 was at home staying warm.
Newcomer Aaron with his FJC survived the trip with only scratches to the paint (hopefully). Good to meet you Aaron and hope you had fun. I was truly impressed what a stock FJC would do but some tires would have made a huge improvement. Welcome to the addiction! Marius getting some air from Greg's '74 Bronco & Larry with a quick electrical fix to get us back on the trail. __________________ Running total of non-waving FJC drivers ......534'85 FJ60 bone stock (the way i like it) '87 Ford Ocnorb with lots of redneck stuff & custom dented body panels Last edited by sk8salomon; 01-20-08 at 07:31 PM. |

Dude...great shots! When I have a chance to resize, I will post some of my own! From what I hear, they found some trails today that needed a lot of winching...sucks to be us early-goer-homers...

I had a good time up at Royal Blue this weekend. Day 2 was definitely the highlight for me. I know you guys all enjoyed getting to see the Land Cruiser pull the Ford Explorer out of the ruts.
![]() Anyways thanks for the hospitality and letting us Ford guys come along on the ride. I will post a bunch of pics for you guys later today.

Hey guys, it was good to meet everyone this weekend. I plan to scout all of the trails in that area this spring. Depending on what we find, maybe we could
schedule another club ride for later in the year. I'll keep you posted. __________________ '77 FJ40 - Girlfriend on wheels (implants incl.) '96 FJZ80 - 2.5" OME lift, lockers, ARB bull bar w/ winch, Slee sliders |
