Hey guys, I'm Shawn from Knoxville and am looking forward to meeting up with you guys for the Royal Blue run. A friend (Vic) will be bringing his FJ40 also and possibly another friend will bring his. I haven't been up to Royal Blue in a few years as we mainly ride at Tellico and Windrock. The lady at the campground said that they sell permits and maps. Unfortunately, it didn't sound like the map had any info regarding difficulty level, etc. I'll do some checking and try to come up with some suggestions. There are a lot of trails at Royal Blue but many of them are just one mud hole after another.

Have not been to this campground but the RV spaces are usually large enough for some tents, the site has electricity so bring an extension cord and a small heater.

Maps
In case anyone is interested, I recently found a topo map I used at Royal Blue in the summer of 2006. It has GPS as well as trail ratings. I’ll try to contact the publisher tomorrow about availability.
Unfortunately there's not a website listed on the map. Just an address and email. In the meantime, here’s the contact info: LandMaps P.O Box 31352 Knoxville, TN 37930 landmaps@comcast.net I’ll also plan to bring it up with me on Saturday morning. __________________ '77 FJ40 Trail Rig ![]() ![]() '89 FJ62 Cream Puff ![]() '96 FZJ80 Daily Driver

atv's only???
All I've ever found online about Royal Blue was pertaining to ATV trails. Is it for certain there are trails for vehicles other than ATV's? I've been to Windrock and had a great time with minimal challenges, but still a great ride. I just thought it was the only place out that way to ride at the time.

I have not been but a friend that was there a few monthsw ago said that many of the trails have been opened up to full size. The current problem with Windrock is that some of the better full size trails have been turned into gravel roads for new well construction. Come join us and help us explore.

Map Found
The map of Royal Blue I mentioned in the earlier post has been recently updated and can be found at: The Map Store in Knoxville, TN. Phone# (888)929-6277. Ask for Phoebe or Bud Blackwell. The map's name is the Royal Blue Wildlife Management Map. Cost is $6.95 and can be mailed to you for around $2. They have plenty in stock.
Hope this helps. __________________ '77 FJ40 Trail Rig ![]() ![]() '89 FJ62 Cream Puff ![]() '96 FZJ80 Daily Driver

I think 10 ish is a realistic goal, by the time we have breakfast and get organized, plus this will give those coming from Knoxville area time to get there.

Sean, did you find a dolly??? My uncle has a tandem axle trailer I might be able to use if you still need something to transport with...depending on the width of your stance.

Yes Rob is planning on being there and there are a couple of other people from the Nashville area that have said they would attend. This is starting to look like a real event. I am looking forward to meeting some new people and wheeling with all of you.
Thanks to Landcruiserdude I have a good map of the area. I have been told that some of the trails marked ATV only on the map are not mark at the trails, we will talk to the TWRA people on friday. Here are the additional people I have heard from: Bob (TPI) Ron Coons (FJ-62)? Mrs Clutchee (FJ-80) Aaron Casity (FJC) ? __________________ Please help save the Upper Tellico OHV area, Donate to the Rescue Tellico Fund http://www.sfwda.org/trails/tellico/donate.html ![]() Roger FJ-40/6.2L Diesel STLCA White Trash of the Elwood Chapter VP SFWDA Last edited by DSLTOY; 01-11-08 at 08:40 AM. |

Vic and Cruizerdude are the same person and I'm one of the guys he had mentioned (so that takes two off of the list). We still don't know if our other buddy with an FJ40 will be coming or not. Also, I ran into a guy in town this week with an FJ40. He said he might come up also so I told him to check this thread for info.
