6th Annual McGrew Trail Ride

I was just made aware that the contact info for the McGrew Trail Ride in the TT ad is wrong. I should have looked My phone number is 707-457-3692 & e-mail is bomkehome@hughes.net.

But, don't let that stop you from signing up for this ride now. This TLCA sanctioned ride, hosted by Pacific Mountain Cruisers, is a great one for stock rigs with a savy driver and follows an old wagon route through some awesome country in the Siskyou Mountains on the CA/OR border on July 29 & 30, starting at O'Brien, OR. Check out the ad in the May/June TT for the rest of the correct info. This years theme is, appropriate for this rough & rocky trail, "Bouncing and Bumping Along" Rumor has it that the FJ Crew will be joining us.

OK, Rubithon is over, Time to focus on the McGrew Trail Ride!

This is an informal event, Light to moderate wheeling but very rough and rocky, excellent for wagons, stock trucks and FJ Cruisers... who by the way, will be present.

Jeff is contemplating curtailing registration at 40 trucks to keep this event small and intimate. If you are interested, sign up now.

Hope to see you there!

Thumbs up Awesome weekend!

Many thanks to Jeff and Tony for a fantastic run again. Jerod and Garett, it was great meeting you. I had the FJ40 in front of Garett and behind Jeff (2nd in line). I met a lot of very cool people this weekend. A great group! Saw faces from last year and met new ones this year. This was only my 2nd club run (both at McGrew), and my son's (Tony) first real 4-wheeling experience. He had a wonderful time and enjoyed meeting everybody. What I really enjoyed was the way everybody connected, didn't matter old or young. And since Art gave me the free McGrew registration he won in the raffle, I guess I have to come next year hehehe. Rough break, I know. ;-)

Thanks for the thanks, guys. For me, this was one of the best McGrew runs we've put together. I agree with Bob that it was likely just the way the group came together. Thanks to everyone who made it, 'cause you were why it is a success

I'm saving the rest of my trail report for the Trails article

Yes, a most awesome time! You could not ask for better weather, and how about that Smith River! Could the water have been any nicer? Nope.

Thanks to Ed Woods for donating $50 to the Raffle (prize).
Thanks to Extreme Outback for the support!
Thanks to the FJ Trail Team for their support!
Thanks to PMC for donating the Hi Lift jack!
Thanks for Aric and his Mini Truck team for getting the fire wood (again).
Thanks to Jeff for leading the run...
and thanks to everyone (all 22 trucks) who attended!

Simply had a wonderful time!

See you next year...

I also have to agree that it was a great trip. Many thanks go out to Jeff and Tony for putting on a great trip. Everybody there made it especially fun for my first sanctioned TLCA event. My daughter (Ryleigh) had a great time, and considering she is only 14 months old is awesome that she only cried when we hit the freeway outside of grant pass on the way home. She continues to say "up-Down" It was pleasure meeting all of you and i will see you next year or sooner maybe at Surf N Turf.

Josh

P.S. I'm bringing something else besides pasta salad to the potluck next year.

except for the dust the trip was awesome again.
i liked having fewer trucks this year too.
it was nice to see the fj teams out, but they should have hit up some harder stuff...its not like its their ride or anything

anyway i got a few pics if anyone wants to brouse i can email them over.

also i didnt get to see the slide show in camp, was it going to be posted somewhere on the net?

todd and gabe both had a blast and plan on attending again next year.
my brother in law made out like gangbusters with the free shirt and fj swag and no fees
peace

I thought I had missed the spot in the info packet that said to bring pasta....

It was still a lot of good food and I sampled just about all of it.

Yes, many many thanks to Tony and Jeff for doing all the work, and the FJC guys and everyone for making it a sweet ride. I can't wait for next year, maybe I'll try some of the optional stuff next year....

I hope to see some of you at SnT, the wife is going with me, and insisted that I get nicer seats..... hehehe Maybe I can get stuck down there in the sand and tell her I need a locker?

Slideshow

I don't think we'll see pics from Ron's slideshow online as he's trying to get some of them into Toyota Trails and they won't publish pics if they've been posted elsewhere. I got a CD of the pics my son took. I hope to post them tonight. If I can remember. There's a saying..."the memory is the first....." dang, I forget the rest.
