Robert,

I've seen damage first hand on an 80 on the Rubicon (on mine). Then again I've seen rigs that come out without a scratch. To avoid damage you should remove fender flares & mud flaps plus you need to drive carefully. But that is no warranty that you will escape without a scratch. It takes planning, skill and a bit of luck.

Do you have experience driving on rocks?
Do you know about the Norcal 80s? We plan to go play on the rocks soon, before Rubithon. You can sign up for our mailing list by visiting http://www.tlcwagons.org

Regards

Alvaro

Alvaro, I have been keepin a close eye on you guys and your rigs! Seen all your guys pics! It would be a pleasure wheelin with you guys! My dad is the one that bought the cruiser that used to be owned by drexx and mando! I have my own 80 too, here's a couple pics: rubicon ready or not? I have signed up for the 80's list too. And I really don't have lots experiance on rocks, but have been wheelin a lot though....

Alvaro, is wentworth springs in the rubicon, is it an easier trail that does not require all the things our cruisers have, and will we walk away without any dents for sure?

Robert,

Wentworth Springs is part of the Rubicon Trail. It's the original entrance to the trail. Damage? Like I said, I've seen a lot of people go through without it. But there is always the possibility.
What you can do is leave your rig at the camp site and ride along with one of us. That way you can feel the trail and decide if this is for you or not.

Regards

Alvaro

Not true.
The first time I went through I came out clean with the exception of scraping one rear fender flare. Sean (MTNRAT), on the same trip made it out completely clean. On 80s on the 'con 2, John Powers completed the trip in pristine condition. I busted a clip on another fender flare, but it was easily fixed. It can be done...but I don't recommend anyone trying if they are afraid of body damage.

You have to go into the trip expecting it and if you come out clean, you can be happy with it.

I would suggest waiting until it is HOT HOT HOT before attemting anything on the Rubicon with an 80 series. As of Mothers Day there has been noone at Wentworth Springs Campgound with a vehicle for at least a couple months. It took two very capable rigs 5 hours to go 2 miles on that section. Body damage was mandatory. (Although I did stop to move the chainsaw)

Another Rubithon Premier Package for Sale

I won this at the Razorback Ramble last weekend, and as much as I would love to go, there is no way I can make it this year. Just too far from KC and too soon.

Please PM or email me at robert.g.garrett@mail.sprint.com if interested.

Bob

I'll take it off your hand FREE, already signed up but I could probably use the jacket to stay warm. I have a toilet and the t-shirt could replace the dirty one i'll be wearing and the food i'll eat, thinking of how you saved me from starving the whole week. c'mon please?
