Three bean salad. A Russ in California standby. Brings a little entertainment into the mix for later in the evening.
Oh yeah, and some bivalves for after din din. No heat need apply. Yum, yum.

Tony -- any chance you'd be willing to haul up a 22" weber? If so, I'll crank out some ribs again.

At our last local not TLCA club meeting the Lost Coast 4 x 4's(of which Russ in California and I are members of) are running the McGrew the same weekend. Some are wanting to camp at Sourdough too. What is the policy for the campground? Of course they will be to themselves and not involved in the TLCA function. There might only be a few rigs that want to camp. So what is the policy for that. Has the TLCA encountered this before on the McGrew. They/we are a great group of enthusiasts. Some have toyota's in their driveways but not members of the TLCA. So there is a possibility that we might have some converts to the TLCA community as well after they see that we are having more fun than them..
Any feed back I can forward to them?

It is a public campground that, unlike the PNW4WDA Fathers Day Run, we do not close for our exclusive use. We have felt it is in bad taste to close public use areas for our exclusive use. At least until some future conflict warrants it (I speculate that that was what happened for their Fathers Day Run ... non-registered people showing up, booney bashing & wreaking havock, then reflecting poorly on them)
We have had non-participants showing up and breaking the rules in the campground, but we have been able to just turn in their vehicle descriptions & the forest service has left us alone. I think as long as these are law-abiding enthusiast out for a trail ride, I don't see why we couldn't share

Thanks Jeff, It always is the bad apples that spoil the bushel as they say. The Lost Coast folks are a great bunch, follow the tread lightly philosophy, and as it turns out there might only be a couple staying. So it's not going to be a big group. They will be leaving later than we will be as well...10-10:30.

I'm in the midst of teetering on the edge of non-participation.
Finished the front wheel bearing replacement which was put ahead of the original problem, the noise up front. I might have something worse than floppy belts but that's where I had intended to start.
As I was getting out of the rig after a nice test drive I smelled hot brakes and the hub/wheel was fairly warm.
Trying to figure out if it's actually the caliper or maybe an inner bulge in the hose.
Found a LF caliper, if that's the prob, in eureka for $75.
Off I go again...

If that is the only wheel then it sounds like you have it dialed in. Chances are its a sticky caliper or the hose you mentioned- make sure you didn't tighten the bearing too tight. You can pull the caliper apart and clean out the gunk and scotch-brite the piston for a quick fix.. lube up with brake assembly lube or lube-glide silicon lube-- just don't get it on the brakes, I know you are parts guy and I preachin' to the choir...
You've got to come, it won't be the same without you!!!! Drive your commuter and catch a ride!

Thanks. I'm trying my darndest
I picked up the caliper just at 5 as they were closing. Got Chinese for the wife and my gumption got up and left after we ate. I'll attack it fresh in the morn.
Sure would like to get it up and 'braking' for the kid's driving test not to mention I've been waiting all year for the run just like everyone else.
Be a shame to have to eat all those oysters by my self at home. I really want to share.
So, chin up, eyes forward and success will be mine

Trail Pig is not making it this year, but I plan to drive the Princess Pig! She stilll needs a basic tune up and valve adjustment. I won't be driving her during the trailride on Sat. morning. I may drive into camp on the fire roads Fri. night or Sat. morning. I just want to get down there. Not sure what I'm bringing for potluck yet...

dang it, the fat's in the fire again.
Caliper mounts up correct but the hose hole is on the bottom not the top boss and won't work.
This is a miss boxed RH caliper in LH box.
There's only one parts store I haven't check but it's the smallest so there's not much chance they'll have one. Probably have to order for Tues a.m. delivery. I'll get it up at MCK NAPA and save $20 though. Something at least.
Off I go...
p.s. so close

Hey, I'm probably going to spend Friday night at the Decker's place in Trinidad. What time are we meeting at the Store Saturday morning?

It looks like it's going to be toasty --- 7-Day Forecast for Latitude 42.01N and Longitude 123.9W (Elev. 2886 ft)
My bad ... work & family had me buried till now ... run info didn't go out last week like hoped. I'll be calling everyone that hasn't provided an e-mail addy.
Welcome to the Cascade Cruiser group ... I don't have any of your registration info, so look me up as soon as you can in O'Brien. (even though it's only 20 minutes from the house, I think I'll camp out behind the store Fri night)

Haven't received the map in to SD via the fire roads. Is this the best map to use. May have to send out a search party!

Hey Ross... we meet at 8:30, try to depart by 9 AM.
Paul's place is still at least an hour to Crescent City, and then at least another 45 min to 1 hour out to O'Brien. So you'll need to leave Trinidad early! I am going to roust Cindy on Saturday morning and shoot back to Cave Junction for breakfast (where we spotted you last year).
I'll be packing the 22" Q.
I think out dash plaques might actually arrive on time too. imagine.
