I would like to lead the unofficial Friday run this year if we have takers. Extra day camping and some nice hiking trails down at camp. Knoll said he would run tailgunner last year and I'm sure he wouldn't mind if we actually did it this year. All we need is at least 3 more to make it happen I would say. If it's a go we can sort out the details in time.

The latest TT has the registration form for this years run & Joshua Kern gets the prize for first registration received! Two more tied for second place on the very next day. I like early registrations ... pumps me up
Kief, of Jefferson State Cruisers, called the other night to report their progress on assistance with this years run. Again ... I'm pumped

If all goes well, I'll be there. If I do show up it will be with my dad, daughter, and son. I hope it works out.

Friday is looking like a go this year. 1 day extra camping/swimming/hiking/relaxing will be nice. We will have at least 2 Jefferson State Cruiser members on the Friday run leading and tailgunning. Follow the same route and rules of Saturday with lunch half way. Thursday night pizza in Grants Pass. Hotels and camping available in Grants Pass-Selma-Cave Jct. Probably won't be able to camp at O'Brien store on Thursday night. Again post up or PM if interested in the early run.

There is a new RV park behind the store.. I don't have that info but if you call the store they would have that info.. Good spot to park your tow rig and contribute to the O'Brien economy..

JSC will be pre-running the trail backwards 06/27/09; the weekend after the j**p jamboree runs it. We will do clean up if needed, I'm expecting them to have it covered though. Unofficial run, no sign ups needed. We will camp at Sourdough Friday night and get up and run the McGrew out to O'Brien in the morning.

Myself & some buddies will also be on the trail at the same time, but on quads. Will be doing some pre-limbing as well if needed.

I have Friday off now! I may roll down there Thursday night in order to run the trail on Friday with the group. If I end up bringing the Princess Pig, then I may skip the trail and head straight to camp for fun and relaxation. I may try to get a ride back to O'Brien on Saturday morning and then run the trail as a passenger, depending what others end up doing...
Oh, I guess I should probably register...

She lives!
I got my Trail Pig running today for the first time in almost 2 years. A couple of you may remember I had troubles with my pig on the return trip home from McGrew in 2007, and I just dealt with it finally.
I will hopefully be driving my Trail Pig to McGrew again. We'll see...

Hey Jeff,
Did you get our registration yet? Mailed it out over a month ago, but haven't seen the check clear.
Missed last year cause both our rigs were under construction. This year were good with both (hopefully).
'07 was kind of a bummer with the broken rear d-shaft and an open front diff. But was still fun.
Also want to set-up camp on Friday and then head back to O'Brien, but don't know the way??
Working on some raffle items. So far, I've got a pair of Trail gear chromoly birfs, an ARB compressor & air-up kit and one of our Fiberglass "LAND CRUISER" embossed bezels.

Tim-
A group of us are running the trail in on Friday and camping to get an extra day down there and to lighten the load of the run Saturday. You can also head in on Friday via the fire road and come out early Saturday morning if you want to run with the main group, I think a couple of people may be doing this as well. Real easy to get in and out via the fire roads, we should be able to supply you a detailed map or a gps track if needed.

Don't have a GPS, but a map would be great! Can a two rig flat bed fifth wheel trailer make it on the fire roads? I remember how those fire roads were on '07. Not fun driving in FWD with an open diff! I was thinking of dropping everything off @ camp & driving the rigs back to O'Brien. We'll be heading down Friday AM and getting to O'Brien around 12-1pm. Probably too late to hook up with the Friday run.

Hmmm, I have never seen a camping trailer towed in there let alone a fifth wheel. The roads aren't too bad but they are tight and windy in some sections. I personally wouldn't recommend towing anything bigger than one of those "pop-up" campers that's been sprung over.

I thought I saw a descent size travel trailer there in '07, but I could be wrong. Thanks, that's what I needed to know.

I saw a quad cab ford truck with a two axle trailer that they had used for hauling quads make it at least to the saddle before camp, it just took a long, long time, a spotter and they said something about never again.. No, would be a more common sense answer but it probably is possible, just not practical, especially if anyone is coming the other way. There is a campground at the store now and you could park that there and pay a night's fee I'm pretty sure.
Look forward to seeing you again.

Here are a couple of pdf files that you can print in color. The BLUE track is the fire road in and the RED track is the McGrew trail. Both meet up at the PINK track which is the road down to Sourdough Camp. The other map is blank so you can see the roads and numbers better than the one covered with the tracks. Not the best maps but it's a start. I think we can do better.

That's what I was originally planning to do (like '07), but just wondering. Thanks and look forward to seeing you again to.

Printed them out @ work with the black & white and can't see any roads on the non-marked map. I'll print them out @ home and hope for better results. Thanks

Yes ... I let the checks stack up to do a mass deposit. If you need it to clear right away, let me know. Great news on the raffle items & thanks.
I definitely would not attempt to trailer your rigs to camp. You'll likely not make it and ruin your trip.
On the map ... I saw a real nice jpg map here http://forum.ih8mud.com/ca-jefferson...pre-run-3.html that I copied & blew up. It looks real clear on my end. Depicts the run route in yellow. But also easy to follow the fire road route (#4402) When I send the run info right after July 7th to all who registered, I enclose a map that Garret made up a couple years ago that seems to work well for most.
Looking forward to seeing you again, soon.
PS - For all you procrastinators out there ... deadline is approaching and there are a bunch of you that say you're coming, but I haven't seen your sign ups ... You know who you are.

No, don't worry about depositing it b4 you're ready. I just wanted to make sure you got it...I don't want to miss out this sweet event!
Also will be bring an Aussie Locker for the raffle as well.
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Should we secure an O'Brien campsite early or is it usually pretty wide open?

1 1/2 hours would be a fair guess.
