For those driving in on I-80 to the Tahoe side, there will be road construction. There is a Caltrans website that will be worth monitoring:
Get Across I-80
There will be repairs ffrom Colfax to the Nevada line.

It will be nice if gas prices stay down by then. Spent 1000.00 last year on gas for moab.

I wanna send my registration in by Tuesday. Okay that's easy, just cut a check and mail it out. I have never been to the Rubicon before. I gotta trailer my rig, so where do I park/camp? Is there anyone going from SoCal that I can group up with? I always tend to end up hitting up these events solo which makes finding a group to wheel with awkward sometimes.

Depending on when you're heading up, you can tag along with a buddy and I. You could catch us as you drive up through. We're planning on leaving Fresno after work on Tuesday. We're signed up for the Wagon run @ 8 Wednesday morning.

If your 40 is streetable, you can park at Ice House Resort, run the trail from Loon to Rubicon Springs to Tahoe (exit) and then loop back around on 50, and up the hill to your trailer at Ice House. If the 40 is not streetable, and the other option instead of driving around, is to run the trail backwards to exit.
When you sign up for a group, you will have folks to (meet and) wheel with. Everyone helps everyone along the trail and trail comm are there to guide. You'll be camping in Rubicon Springs a night or two depending upon your run and their arrival into the springs, which also allows you to meet other folks. Of course, its only as social as you want it.
Exiting backwards is certainly a time when you want to group up with someone. While there are usually many small groups exiting backwards, these are all informal. I am sure if you ask right here who is planning to exit backwards and if you can run with them, You'll have no problem.
Unless your cruiser routintely breaks down, you don't follow anyones advice, and you like to run 3000000000000000 to 1. then you might find yourself on your own.
But yes, please do get your registration in.

Yeah my rig is "streetable", but it depends on the tires I have on it. Looks like I'll be running the Iroks, which puts me in streetable trim. Thanks for the info. I am looking forward to this run!

Ice House resort will charge $5 a night/day to park, but it is safe... and ice house is only 5 miles in where as loon lake trailhead is 34 miles. So park at Ice house so when you loop around, you don't have to drive so far in (and back out).
Julie at Ice House resort can also set you up with a room if needed, and has the store for last minute stuff on your way in.
Please slow down when driving through their parking lot!

Hey Tony, I realize the need for the personal potty but last Sept. the Pirates had placed many b & b's along the trail and in many camping areas. Are they still there?
Also, are we allowed to camp on the slabs just out from Rubicon Springs?

not sure... but also not recommended (according to the water quality board). There are porta-potties in Rubicon Springs but be prepared to handle your business along the trail itself.
and you can camp almost anywhere, but your truck must remain within 25 feet of the center of the trail.

Hey Tony--
What's generally the turn around time for confirmation?
I sent my application and check in on Monday of this week via regular USPS.
Thanks!

Have not received it as of 5/24 via fax. Better send it again using the fax number on the reg. form.
Thanks

He's as good as on.
I'll be shooting everyone prelims this weekend, finals next week... wagon run is full compliment at 20.
Nicely done Andy. You guys have the trail that day with the exception of Mudrak (doing their own thing).

Registration cut off is May 31! If going, and you want to confirm a meal or shirt, get those reg's now.
(not you Sam, that was a generic message... just happened to fall under your last post.)
Tony and Cindy begin moving June 1st, contact will be sporatic, and after June 9, it will be very hard as PC will be down.
But hey, by then... its too late anyhow.
