OK, I've been reading and searching for a few hours now and have yet to find a detailed description of how this event plays out. Sadly, the TLCA website seems to be the least informative of all.
Once you've paid your registration, do you then need to decide which organized run suits you, and pay accordingly? I would love to make this run and even passed on CM this year in hopes of making it. Hopefully someone can provide a simple description of how this event plays out.It seems as if groups leave at different times and ultimately meet back up at certain points.
Obviously, I would like make the run with similar vehicles and with driver's of similar experience levels if possible. I also have 2 dogs that I bring everywhere. They can be a little wild (read entertaining) because they are young but they're always well received.
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated
EDIT: Is it safe to assume that leaving earlier merely allows more time for sight seeing and camping before everyone meets up on Friday? I think I'm piecing it together but I still think it would be great for anyone (like me) that hasn't been to Rubithon before if the overall itinererary were better defined in the first post

Rubithon is a destination camping type event. Point A to B. With the level of traffic and recent trail restrictions camping between point A and B isn't what it used to be.
How does the event play out, ?
Well, there are 2 starting points for formal runs. One at Loon Lake and this year one at Wentworth. You leave these areas on your selected run traveling the trail, literally single file until you reach Rubicon Springs or a preselected layover spot. The springs is the area that all event functions occur at and where camping is. It is a significant haul to get a group into the springs and can be tough. You will camp there 2, 3 or 4 maybe more days depending on when you come in. The trail is run in one direction by most out of courtesy for the event. There are many camping areas at the springs, rock slabs by river, forested campsites, riverside spots, etc. TLCA has all the Med support, Camp permit, Trail guidance stuff in effect. Camping at springs is on private property and the event reg. includes your permit to camp at springs. Leaving = exit runs Sunday morning in an orderly, organized fashion. Sign up for Ice run on friday if you do not have an arb fridge or make the trek out to Tahoma yourself. This event goes off at a nice easy pace. You can leave a tow rig at the trail exit and drive the 1.25 hr loop to the loon lake start or drive the loop in your rig after and pick up tow rig. Big Hint-- if driving around leave your trailers at Ice House resort so when you come back around on Sunday you do not have to go all the way back up icehouse rd. to the loon lake start.

Sorry about the lack of web site, that is my fault but I have my team of aces working on it.
Even our old 07 site is down right now as we make transition to 08 data...
but don't fret! You have found the spot to ask your questions, or you can email me directly at
Rubithon@tlca.org And don't blame the TLCA site, it normally points you to my site which.
So read John's post above, and ask any Qs you might have.
Basically, you register and choose a run. All runs arrive in Springs by Friday or earlier. Everyone hangs out Saturday for games, dinner and raffle, and we all exit out cadillac hill on Sunday.
You wheel, you bend stuff, you help others, you might even break but we hope not, you arrive (thank gosh), you meet folks, you share stories, you tell lies, you eat, drink and be marry, you buy, you win, you pack up, you exit by wheeling some more. Then you drive home (that is my least favorite part.)
The fact that you passed on CM makes me want to ensure you have an excellent time at Rubithon!
thanks!

As she currently sits, no body, and she will make the drive from So Cal. even if I'm sitting on a bucket screwed to the frame .

Thanks, this is the run I am looking at doing but wondering if there will be other 80's or not for support if needed. Since the wagon run will be a day ahead I can't sit and wait for them to catch up. Are you the one leading this run?

Thursday, the FJ CRuiser group will pull over for Big Jim straight thru, and will balance entry to Buck with Bill's group, perhaps at the slabs. FJ Cruiser group will target upper buck and the saddle for camping Thursday night. The FJ cruiser group will then wait in camp FRiday for both Bill and Georg to leave Buck for Big Sluice, and then the FJ CRuiser group will fall in behind Georg group as they head for big sluice. FJ group will ideally be at bottom of big sluice before Friday morning group hits it friday afternoon. All groups in Spring by Friday evening.
These details were just worked out, need to contact Trail team and confirm. All Rubithon Trail leads have bought off on this plan... and realize that by working together, showing patience and courtesy, all drivers will be in on time.

Looking forward to this event. The TT will have Woody & I, Robbie, Garrett, and the "rookie" Kevin out on the trail this year.

Thanks Guys! I had many requests for this type of run, but did not receive any interest last year when we made it an actual run.
If anyone contacts me about easy in on FRiday, I will direct them to you. We also have the Ice Run dropping back down on Friday afternoon. We might even have a few Fly Ins looking to bum a ride down and back up on Sunday.
Very appreciative!
