I'm now in Illinois.....woah, what a difference... (yes, left Tahoe about 7:30p on Sunday, arrived here 1900 miles later at 6:30p Tuesday)

Props to the ENTIRE Rubithon crew....I had an excellent time....great people, great wheeling, great people, great food, great people, great entertainment, great people....Tony, you ran a good crew and ran it well.

Finally got the opportunity to put a lot of usernames and faces together...and ran into many more that I've already met at other events...a pleasure to tip a few with ALL of you!

Ross...and Ross Jr....mmmm...no comment.....lol (like father, like son)

BTW: how would one get a apron? I do a LOT of Trail Team cooking, and the boring normal black one I have now just doesn't quite cut it...

See you ALL in 2009!!! I WILL be there!!

Toy really said it, Thank you guy's all so much! All of you that were on the straight thru were incredible!!! Everyone was so helpful and patient. Being our first time out we really didn't know what to expect and the trail was so much more than we were expecting. For us to get thru Cadillac with only that minor scratch on the driver’s door was unheard of!! Thank you Bud our own personal tow service there to give me a tug when we got high centered. John thank you for the tow out of the pond! Everyone else thank you for your awesome spotting!!!! I wish I had asked (and remembered) everyone’s name. I do remember Jarrod, Chris, and Eric your wisdom and spotting really kept us coming out without damage. Big Jim you set an awesome pace and your experience got us all thru relatively unscathed. My wife and little one also had an amazing time, and we can't thank you all enough!!!! It truly was the trip of a life time, and we hope that we have a group half as awesome as all of you were this year when we go next year!!!!!!!

P.S. John how is your little girl doing? She was such a little trooper, Karly and I just hope that she's doing well.

Here are a bunch of pics from the So Ca TLCA group on the straight through run Thursday: Southern California Toyota Land Cruiser Association/Land Cruisers/Southern California TLCA Photos/2008 Club Runs/Rubithon

Garrett, I glad that your son is okay and that you made it out safely! I still can't believe that your 80 squeezed through the tree and rock on the Big Sluice! I hope to see you and Travis in his FJ Cruiser out there again next year...

Chris

Hey, big thanks to you for the Knee work after my "trip" across the bluffs. The Ace wrap made all of the difference in the world.

Those pics sure show how "seasoned" the FJ Cruiser group became after just a few short days.

I was honestly honored to shake Mr. Marlin C.'s hand on Saturday night. I'll make him proud to see his work with the FJ Cruiser.

Many thanks to Gary and the Mudrack crew on Cadillac Hill. Once up, the exit could not have been smoother! Every Cruiser came out quickly, and without a winch or a scratch. Gary installed my lift kit last January, I know I'm lucky to have access to such an icon...
Hey, I'm glad that you were able to use some of my rubicon experiences, and make your trip a little better. Even though your group was the "red-headed step child" you all hung with it, stepped aside, and let everyone enjoy the trail. The beauty of that was on Wednesday, after we passed you, there were no other organized runs "pushing" on you, which probably made your trip much more enjoyable.

I actually think you guys navigated Cadillac hill really well. In fact, I think you did better than the trail teams guys at certain points.

Looking forward to seeing you and your husband on the trail, or at a bar soon!

Emerald is fine. She was bummed that I would not let her swim but the pools down by Dirty Dozen are shallow enough that she could have plenty of water fun. She hunted crawdads with Derek Trents son all weekend. I was so relieved that your wife was there to calm her and have that motherly touch. Tell her thank you from the heart.

I want to hear about the wet stuff when you unpacked.

She'll be so glad to hear she's okay!!! The whole way home she was all stressed worrying about her. Keepin' her out of the muck was probably a great idea, none of that water was too clean.

As for the wet stuff all of our gear was in 3mm constrction bags, a requirment for packing anything I take backpacking or in my rig when wheelin'. The Marines taught me a couple of things that help me in life . The DVD player we picked up on the way for this trip dried out and is working fine. The only reall cassualty is Becca's Lion that we got in Placerville, it will never be the same color again. I do need to pull that whole rubberized floor out soon so that it can dry, but all and all I think all is well. Oh the inverter seems to be working again as well I think...

Thank you again for getting us out of that water hazard, without your assistance we would have been with a capital , !!!!!! Sorry we took off on Friday mornin' with Toy, we had a coupld of cases of for to share when we got to the springs. With our early departure only one was consumed the whole trip! Next year we'll get our official thank you's out there. Couple of weeks before next years trip shoot me a PM or post yer beverage of choice!

Finally made it home a day late, due to a broken serpentine belt pulley on the tow rig in WY. As Zornff said, I "must have sucked up all the bad ju-ju for the club" this past week.

Thanks to Tony & Cindy, the Committee and crew for a great time. We appreciated all the hospitality and extra attention given us. Having David walk the trail with us was a nice touch and surely saved us additional carnage. I am eternally grateful to Mudrak for supplying me with he right parts to fix me up the first time, and the parts and labor the second. Thanks to Tien Do for the knuckle bearings. I will replenish your supplies. Thanks to Mark A. for the carb work. I think it's time for a new fuel tank. And thanks to Jim Adams for the bumper repair job in the staging area before I even hit the trail! Tony, I think your exit strategy was fine. Sorry I put a little kink in it.

As always, it was great to see old friends, and make some new ones.

I also want to thank my fellow Rising Sun members who I thoroughly enjoyed traveling and hanging with, and who were there for me when I needed some help.

I've already got a few upgrades in the works. I'll be back, better prepared next time.

no worries Chris, all part of the adventure. For me personally, having Rising Sun attend in force, and more importantly... enjoy themselves, the trail and the event, is what I will remember the most from the Hall of Fame run. Having attended CM so many times, It was nice to share our premier CA event with you guys and gals.

By the way, I had the best time at CM this year. Hope you folks can say the same about Rubithon!

Absolutely, Tony. You went out with a bang!! Sounds like a few more of our guys that didn't make it this year are thinking about going out next year.

Pighead has one of those highly sought-after Official Rubithon aprons...slightly used, near-mint condition (still has the tag on it...). What's it worth to you woody?
