Thanks! Charcoal briquettes are all I need actually for a dutch oven. Do they fall under campfire regulations?

yes, briquettes fall under permit rules.
But in the Springs it's usually not an issue, as it's private land.

Sadly, that's probably true. I'm sure I'll be told my metal spoon is illegal though, and it will be confiscated at the gate.

Curious about who is on your formal Run... visit the Rubithon website.
PS - if running solo, then don't bother visiting for only formal groups are listed, no solos, bootlegs, renegade, rogue apples, or anything else close. I mean, that is why you went solo, correct??

I hadn't thought to ask this before, but does anyone coming through reno have an empty seat that would be passing through/near the airport around noon? I have a ride to rubicon, but he's coming from placerville, so if I could save him a ton of miles, he might appreciate it.

Woody, and the rising sun member (convert) coming up from Nevada City. 49 to 193 up Wentworth Springs road is hands down the best route. You take a right on Ice house and you're there.
I live near Cameron park and that route cuts a half hour out of the trip to loon vs going 50 to Ice House

Yeah, but how many escorts do we need? Looks like 10 FJ's and three of those are Trail Teams. Looks like I'll about have my own personal escort?
Hope he's cute!

If you guys have too many escorts on that run feel free to send one over to the straight through Thursday run to help the one 80 and FJC . They would be well compensated

Hey Rising Sun Guys-----For maximum fun, here is an alternative route from Reno. Take the Truckee-Tahoe City route to Tahoma, leave your trailer at the Rubicon exit staging area and drive into the Springs either Monday pm or Tuesday morning. You can then run the trail backwards on Tuesday either with Mudrak or me. That would put you at Robbs Tuesday night via the BEST possible route -- the Rubicon Trail. And your trailer would be waiting for you in Tahoma at the end of the week.

Rides over the Rubicon
After many phone calls and confirmations with Tony, Mel, John, Becky and Pearce, we will be having Helicopter rides over the Con this year!
With fuel prices as they are Jet fuel is way over the $5.00 mark the rate is 60.00 per person with 3 minimum per ride.
If you have not experienced the trail from above i highly recommend it, it is worth every penny.
i would like to give a special thanks to Pearce Umlauf at JJUSA for his help with the details. He will be arriving on Friday to survey bear damage to some storage sheds. If you can, walk over and introduce yourself and thank him.
See you there, Scott

That sounds awesome Jack. Not sure if any of us will be there in time as most of us are leaving Denver area Monday, arriving at Robb's Tuesday afternoon. I will post this up on our forum and see if there is any takers.... Most of our group is Rubi virgins and I think Andy has them scarred poopless....I would hate to burst their bubble and let them see it's just a nice Sunday drive on a Kalifornia country road!

Do we all need to get permits on our way in? I assumed it would be either NO fires, or a group Rubithon permit.

No, that's ok, we'll keep them! I'm sure we'll have enough compensation in our group to keep them interested!
Helicopter rides? How much better could this trip get?

You need a permit for a fire along the trail. No need in the springs, as that is private property.
Only one person in the group has to have the permit. You need it for Cmapfire or Charcoal briquettes. Not needed for propane stoves

They will probably do it Friday or Saturday, when the majority of people are in camp. Last time they did it was Saturday. Whatever the charge, it's worth it. Bring cash.

Remember the Owners follow the forest on FIRE. If restrictions are up, no fires in Rubicon Springs. There would be one main fire most likely right in camp.
you can be cited on private property during restrictions. Also, Kevin will give you the boot if he finds a fire.
I expect the restrictions to go up before a just after the 4th so we should...........be OK
Rides will be on Saturday at 10AM.

Rob, FWIW Ian and Ryan had a FIASCO with bottles two years ago. The shaking ruined EVERYTHING in that icechest.
Others may disagree, but for me it will be beer in cans, whisky and rum in bottles.
