Rubithon Sponsors
Rubithon is only a week away and the excitement and anticipation is building. The raffle committee has been working hard to make sure we have lots of GREAT prizes in the raffle. The sponsor page has been updated with the list of supporters of our event. Please thank them by supporting their companies, and when you order parts or see them at an event thank them for their support of Rubithon and TLCA.
Check out the updated Sponsor web page here Rubithon: the official TLCA event
Also, I want to thank all of the attendees that every year personally donate to the Rubithon Raffle by bringing prizes directly to the event. Each year we are amazed at the generosity.

I'm going to make it, but my truck will not. :( Shipping just got outrageous with diesel prices right now.
I may be thumbing rides throughout the event though I'm riding with the fj cruisers to start with.
First Rubicon though....and that's exciting in itself. I feel fortunate just to be able to fly out and ride along.

Oh, and a bitchin FJ45 that may or may not be for sale.

Get to Tahoma:
Map of Tahoma, CA by MapQuest
and there's road signs showing the prefered path.
You should see rigs at observation point by about 8am through mid day anyway.

Pack'n my FJC tonight for morning departure tomorrow. Hope to make into Shingle Springs by Sunday night so I can meet with the Inchworm guys Monday morning for a modification or two before meeting up with my group on Wed noon.
Can't wait to meet everyone and visit a region with my daughters that we haven't seen for over 10 years. This is going to be an epic trip for us, one which I hope makes a positive and permanent impression on my girls, making them as dedicated to being in the outdoors as I am...

Wow-If you are coming from NC, you will likely win the Iron Butt award. Very cool and dedicated of you in this time of expensive fuel.
There is a guy coming from France, but he isn't driving.
I'm stoked. Tons to do before next Saturday departure, though...

What is the campfire/briquette situation? Big no-no or no problemo?

Finished the knuckle rebuild, wheel bearings, Diamond wide kit and a few other little things today. Took it out for a spin and amazingly it all stayed together. Still need to change the diff fluid, set the swr on the CB, get some more spare parts, shop, pack, drive and wheel. Looking forward to hitting the trail SOON!

Previous post: truck's running like shi*; bringing 6 cans of starter fluid.
Add 600 lbs of payload.
Not a good combo there John.
Find someone to look at the truck.
Be safe...........mellonhead!

You'll need to pick up a fire permit, and we won't know the status of fires until Tuesday.
Propane power is the key.
If you get a permit, then you can have camp fires. They will check and ticket.

If it comes down to a wrestling match (and it always does), my money is on FryDaddy - one of the those guys. Can you bring him Paul?

As noted, we simply won't know for sure until Tuesday. Right now, fires appear to be a go but we are experiencing high winds and low humidity.
Bring/plan for propane cooking. Someone in your group could bring a briquette BBQ and briquettes in case fires are a good. And not too much extra weight if No Go.
There will be plenty of firewood as we are the 1st large group in each year.
I understand what a challenge this can be for those of you with long distances to travel. Sorry for the sketchy info and wishy-washy instructions.

Propane bottle, briquette barbecue and briquettes should fit easily into my carry-on. No problem!
