two years ago I changed my motor on the Sunday before Rubithon... You guys got nothing on me

I'm so swamped with projects getting the house ready for my daughters graduation party next Friday, I can't even look at my 40.

I'm thinking I might have some room. I'm not 100% until after I get my co-pilot's gear in. I'm going to go sort of heavy on the water so the hikers can hit me up if they need some. Also, I'm going to bring my dive bag. It is a big waterproof bag. I'll toss it on the useless factory roof rack if that would help someone.

Rubicon Road to Reno Airport by way of South Lake Tahoe

(someone chime in if it is faster around the north end of the lake)

15 Minutes from Trail head to Highway
45 Minutes to South Lake Tahoe Safeway Grocery (near my house)
1:20 Minutes to Reno Airport.

That is at TOURIST SPEED. Any good cruiser head can shave 15 minutes off that time if needed.

SO on the safe side: 2.5 HOURS from end of trail to Airport.

Reno Airport is small, so figure on minimum of 15 minutes to get through security to your flight.

PM me if you think you need a South Lake Tahoe base camp. I'll share details on how to find me/access/etc. It's not fancy and there is no shop.

Speaking of "Safeway" Where's the closest Supermarket to the trail to stop for Ice and groceries? My GPS pulls up a few, but I'll ask anyway.

Final run lists have been sent out to trail leaders. Trail leader 'stuff' is either arriving or will be arriving shortly. Will follow up with radio channels.

Breakfast counts to Ice House and list. Bring those yellow tickets that were in your confirmation. Did not get your confirmation?? don't fret, just show up, they have a list with last names.

Raffle stuff (and there is a lot of it) dropped off for escort into the springs.

Picking up shirts this Friday for bag and tag.

and finally, if you have not registered, register in the Springs. You must register to receive your camping permit. folks without a permit will be asked to leave. Please don't put us in this unfortunate scenario. Simply register.

That is all... packing thoroughly, but do not overpack. Prepare for sun, but don't forget tarps and raingear. Bring a Marauder Bar donation. Bring a raffle prize.

Get ready to have an excellent time on the Rubicon with your TLCA friends!

I can't touch mine until Sunday morning... It's killing me.

I have a seat open if anyone needs one Wednesday - Double locker run.

Also, fire restrictions go into effect June 18th in El Dorado forest (Loon and Buck). No open fires. No Charcoal. Only gas/propane/sterno WITH A PERMIT.

maybe the dumbest question so far on this topic, but I got a rat bastard of a schedule at work and almost no vacation days, so is it okay that I drive in on the trail from Tahoe just to visit everybody Thursday and Friday and leave Saturday morning? I havent seen some folks in a while and I dont want to wait until S&T. Rubithon has always been like a dream for me. I do not plan to run any organized runs etc. Or will sections of the trail be closed by TLCA staff? Just let me know, because I dont want to make people mad I will prolly come in Thursday afternoon/evening and stay Friday, then cut out early Saturday morning. I will also make myself available to help with rigs, recovery etc. Or if people need things to be picked up Thursday and brought in for them in return for letting me just visit If anybody interested in going in with me Thursday afternoon 4pm or 5pm - ish. Feel free to PM me. I may have an extra seat too for the ride in.

Per Tony's note above... The only way to camp at the Springs is to register for the event.

I dont have to camp at the springs. I will make do. I just dont want to miss the event and want to meet the folks. I will be as flexible and helpful as possible. I will give you guys an update next week. But if I come, I will bring as much ice as I can load up.

Mickey...

Yes, you can enter Thursday via Tahoe side, hang out, have fun, mingle, etc... and leave when ever you want.

but you still need to register. You can register at Rubicon Springs during the event.

I hope you can make it, despite your crazy schedule...

Exclamation Paying the Registration

I offer the following comment to everyone... who is thinking or trying to avoid paying Rubithon registration.

when it comes to registering... remember this fact... this is a TLCA event, put on specifically for TLCA members, by TLCA members. If you dodge the registration, you are effectively hurting all your fellow TLCA members, and the folks you call friends, who have paid to attend. The money raised at this event after the bills are paid, is not a lot in comparison, and all goes to TLCA to aid their yearly budget. Additionally, Rubithon has consistently supported Del Albright of FOTR for his efforts towards this world famous trail and BRC financially. The folks who work this event are also TLCA volunteers who put out a lot of time and effort towards a successful event. Failing to register is a slap in their face.

If you compare the cost of Rubithon registration to virtually any other 4x4 event, you will see the registration fee is extremely cheap. We have intentionally held the prices for the last 6+ years. However, I do expect them to increase next year.

In an effort to ensure everyone is registering, TLCA has secured the entire Rubicon Springs including Dirty Dozen. If you do not possess a Rubithon Camp permit by thursday evening, you will be asked to leave by the Springs caretaker and myself. I personally cannot think of a more depressing role or chore for me, than asking someone to leave.

Please support Rubithon, and show respect for your fellow TLCA member friends, by registering.

You would not walk into Wal-mart and take something from the shelf without paying... don't do it at Rubithon either because you are taking from your fellow cruiser buddies.

Please be sure to register. and thanks for listening.

Remember to bring a little spare coin to buy your raffle tickets. We have received some great prizes that you can win, but you can't win if you don't buy raffle tickets.

Also, bring in raffle prizes to the event. Small, large whatever. Bring prizes to the registration booth at the springs.

See you their.
