As we get closer, I'll know better, but it's looking like I'll have a seat free on the Wednesday double locker run. My son decided to fracture his clavicle (sp?). Doc says 4 -6 weeks.... I'm sure bouncing around the 'con won't treat his shoulder nice...

Keep it in the back of your mind, we'll know more later

Herr Peter! I haven't shared a trail with you since the original 'Cruise Moab in 1998 (Remember the HJ60 night rescue on Pritchett Canyon?)!!!! I'll be riding shotgun/cameraman/spotter/beer fetcher for Eric Vogt, flying in and out of Reno!

Folks, attending Rubithon is a 15-yr dream for me, I remember planning the trip when I was a sophomore in college....I still can't believe it's happening, I don't even care that it won't be in my own Cruiser as I'd dreamed all along.

I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to it!

Cheers!

ding - ding - ding -- We have a winner.

Good news Henry! If you have the need to run some of the other parts of the trail, I'll be behind you in Mudrak's group... We should pass you somewhere around Buck.

Question weather conditions

hi !

the euro-cruiser team, need some info on weather conditions :

1 - MOSQUITOS ? (we camp in a hammock, more simple)
2 - RAIN ?
3 - Temperature night and day ? moisture in the night ?

we are still looking for seat also, contact PETER (FJ-40 GARAGE) on the board if you have
a seat to offer to the euro-cruiser team (like i said, we love 40 series, we live 40 series..but we like also the other cruisers...

last question should i take the girls of our club in our package ?

1 - MOSQUITOS ? (we camp in a hammock, more simple)

It's early season in the Sierras-lots and lots of Mosquitos. Mostly in the evenings and mornings, not so bad once it cools off. This has been a dry year, so maybe a bit less than usual.

2 - RAIN ?

Anything can happen. It is usually nice, but I have been caught in a deluge of biblical proportions once, and snow once. Afternoon thunderstorms can and do occur.

3 - Temperature night and day ? moisture in the night ?

It should be hot most of the days, about 30C. It will cool off at night and can be downright cold, but figure an average low 10C-15C.

camping, fire, food :)

also a big question (the last)

- is camping authorized everywhere ?
- what's about campfires in the springs ?, if no campfire is permit, is butane ok ?
- for the food , i don't know how we 'll organize...maybe i'll take dry food , so we 'll have to squat your butane sure !

Welcome Henry! I cannot express how excited we are to have you in attendance!

Dunkane... yes, plan propane. Anything after that is a bonus.
Camping is very specific along the trail, but very open once inside Rubicon Springs.

bring mosquito repellent or die a slow death of blood lose.

Everyone... be very careful about where you park along teh trail. There are no options to move your truck, except after you receive your ticket. Stay within 15 ft of the trail centerline. No, don't ask me where that is, it is as elusive to me as it is you. Your trail leader will do their best to monitor.

We are pulling final counts this week. If you have not yet registered, drop me a note!

and of course, Gloves for all spotters/rock stackers! Have them at the ready... the idea is to help folks remember to focus on hand and finger injuries when tossing rocks.

Be safe.. not sorry and fingerless.

Camping is OK, except on private property that is marked off as no tresspassing (near Little Sluice).

As for food -- the group you are with will probably have extra camp stoves. Dry food is good. Don't forget there is breakfast and Dinner Saturday in the springs. 2 Dinners are included for each vehicle, breakfast is extra ($7.50 each).

Depending on which group you are with, there is usually extra food around. The Wagon guys always pack heavy (so do I in my 40)... Water is the killer. Look into water filtration/purification... The water is very clean, but sometimes there are "bugs" in it.

Mmmm... maybe 2008 will be the year for me. I've been a TLCA member since 1996, and I've always wanted to be at this event.

2008 will be the Hall of Fame run with Bob Garrett and George Rice rumored to be in attendance. I am hoping for strong Board attendance, and strong attendance from our friends in CO, UT, TX and all other Western US states, and East Coast too if they dare venture West.

Plus it will be our 20th year... But lets not look too far ahead yet, still need to do the 19th.

Henry *Old Skool* Cubillan is coming!

You coming to join is more than just good news, shure i remember when you saved my arse and Henry Brimmers HJ60 at Pritchett !

...never forget Henrys face when i arrived at slickrock walking.........
Do you have some pics from the night recovery actions?

See you at the broken birfield bar!

@Guilliaume
As i remember most folks used *Cutters* as moskito repellent.
Take a light tarp and some strings as a just in case or simply a dachshound garage (small tent).
Dont be to afraid no one died of thurst or hunger up there.....as far as i know.

To those of you coming in from overseas. Just get to Loon and be there on Wed. and Thurs and you will find a ride. I would be happy to haul an extra empty cooler with ice for you boys to toss your food into on Wed evening. I will not gaurantee cooking it for you but I would happily haul cold bev and grub for ya.

Come on Pees, its not nice to sucker the foreigners into filling your cooler.

EV and HC, I'm stoked you're coming out! It's about time! Luckily I even signed up for the Wagon Run instead of running with the usual motley crew on Lock and Roll run. This is going to be FUN!

TRT2, got my confirmation today! Thanks.

Time to get busy on the last minute wrenching duties...

Well, Tom and I should be heading up there Wednesday evening or so. Anyone who is coming from out of town/state are more than welcome to crash here Tuesday night, or Sunday/Monday night. We have plenty of room and couches and room to park your rig/trailer or work on your junk if need be.

we're about 2.5 hours or so from loon.

mike

Jack,

I have no clue what our schedule is going to be like. I've heard rumors that we might drive all day on Wed. to the springs. I'm just planning on showing up and just going with the flow. If we can hike back and see some action I'm all for doing that. I can't haul in the little motorized back up transportation. We are going to be full. So the hiking boots will have to suffice or drive back. We'll see when we get there.

This is a huge adventure for me. I'm picking Henry up in Reno Tuesday night. Then our run leaves early Wed. AM. Out Sat. night so he can catch his flight at 6:30 AM Sunday morning and then I pick Ginger up at the airport in Reno about noon on Sunday. Vacaville, then the coast, Pismo, SOR, and finally Legoland in Carlsbad. And whatever else we can find along the way. I'm planning a drive down Hollyweird Blvd. and Rodeo drive and on the way home the Strip in Vegas. I want a photo of the Cruiser with the Cowboy Neon sign. So we are doing on and off road adventures. Then from Vegas we are running two tracks back to Idaho on part of the Border to Border route. I figured it out and at current gas prices we should spend about $1200 on fuel.

Over 10 years of planning to get to this trip. I guess I should be thankful I didn't get a new job and I didn't get to CM this year as that as what made it all possible. This is the 4th time I've registered for Rubithon, but the first time I'll be there.

For having a rig that I thought was ready I sure am doing a lot of work. New rear quarter protection, new swingout on the rear bumper, gears, and new hoses. Oh and I have to get a chip fixed in the windshield.

That is the plan right now. I'm going to bring my big dive bag in case we have to throw stuff on the roof temporarily. I don't worry about me so much on the late night and early morning (I usually pull in to CM at 2-3AM and am ready to wheel by 7AM because of excitement) but I'm a little concerned about having a cranky little guy. But he can sleep anywhere so I imagine he'll sleep the whole trip up to Loon. We will see how it goes, we may take up shelter in SLT Tuesday night and get an early start. One last shower might be nice. It might wake us up a bit.
