Are bobbed pickups allowed or is it strictly a landcruiser event? My 80 will not be ready for this event.

My understanding is that pickups would be allowed.

You, however, might not be allowed.....

Any TLCA member vehicle is allowed.

Even yours Mickey

Remember -- Chairman Tony Twiddy drives a "slightly" modified pickup

Sorry to hijack this emotional moment, but I need some advice.

My 80 is stock except for sliders and 34" Cooper Discoverer STTs. I have no front or rear bumper. I'm a fairly experienced wheeler, plus I live in the Tahoe area, so this terrain is my home turf. Do you recommend this run for me? I have heard that a rear bumper is a must...

If I decide not to take my own rig, does anyone have any room in their cruisers?

Jason,

With no rear bumper, no t-case skid plate and no sliders you will trash your 80. We took a fairly lifted 80 through Wentworth Springs last week. The driver was top notch. But, he had no protection and as expected he damaged his rocker panels. Keep in mind that the section of the trail we did is considered the milder section of the Rubicon.

Save your money and get protection, it will pay off in the long run.

Regards

Alvaro

Luke, any news on the incoming plans ?

Fellas from France, Keep posting here and on the Pirate Bulletin Board and you are sure to get a ride. If you keep up the messages people will see it. Post some more info on your travel dates. There are multiple runs/groups all staging at different times so it would be most helpful to post up when you are arriving and when you plan on meeting up with a group to ride with.

I changed my flight to Tuesday night. Getting in at 10:45. "ginericFJ80" from pirate is getting me out to the Springs LATE Tuesday night. He might also have me on the way out late Saturday night. It looks like it's all good

Luke -- Springs or LOON... I think Eric is on the Wednesday Loon breakfast run. He won't make it if he's in the Springs on Tuesday

I think Luke means Loon. Well then you will just have to hang there on wed. , we head in on Thurs. morning. If you do go in with someone please post a sign at the Kiosk letting me know who and when you went in. Otherwise I will plan on finding you at the Kiosk wed afternoon . If you find some cruiserheads who are campin at the campground just before dam just put a note on Kiosk and I will come find ya. Basically if you pull into Loon put a note on Kiosk so we can locate each other. I usually camp at bottom of dam on wed night.

None of this means anything to me yet since I've never been there. I don't even know if I'm naming landmarks correctly. PM me with a phone number so I can get this right.

Loon Lake #2 dam is where everyone will start this trip, not Rubicon Springs, which is the destination/party spot/cool place to hang out. For anyone looking for a ride, I think hanging around the base of the dam by the small forest service shack would give you the best chance to talk with everyone.

I would love to offer the international folks a ride, but I don't know how many spare seats there will be until the actual start of the Run. Another option would be to get to Loon Lake on Tuesday night-a group of us will be camped at the base of the dam, and we may be able to sort out rides for the following day's run.

From my point of knowledge there will be 5 seats needed for the Euro-Cruiserheads.

Its not necessary that we all get a ride on the same day or the same group, 3 of us (TK aka The Krauts) would be happy to join the 80īs run wednesday morning if things work well.
Marc Schäfer with Spouse and his 4Runner from germany come around as well with their own vehicle and we will force him to carry our baggage up to the springs.

The 2 Frenchies would prefer to get seats in some 40īs as i know, so i asume they dont mind to much about the day of starting the trip.

I know that things will work out well in the end anyway and if anything ill be the first willing to crawl up to the springs on my naked nipples just to be there!
No pictures allowded........
