yes -- Always June

The problem (or challenge if you will) is that there aren't many weekends open for such a large group. There was one year the run was in August. Hot and Dusty!

Hmmmm, I seem to remember RAIN. Two dry guys in a 60 crackin the windows to chat with soaked to the bone 40 drivers during some HEAVY thunder storms on the way to Buck. Sound familiar Woooody?

I just printed out the registration form and have a question. Which runs would you recommend for my first time driving Rubicon?

If you are driving your 60 Go for the wagon run. If not like Wooody said the Wed. or thurs. Breakfast runs have good paces and great trail leaders.

If you are taking a 60 how is it set up? Make sure it meets the minimum requirements and has sliders.

Most likely I'll be on the wed breakfast waggy run (the more I think about it the more I think they are two different runs)

And then I'll be leading the Fri morning run down Cadillac..

Fun times

I will sign up for the wagon run on Wed. & the breakfast run on Thurs. I am really looking forward to it. The 60 will meet the requirements once I put some 33's on there since I got 32's now. Just got to decide between 10.5's & 12.5's.

You sign up for one or the other, not both

33's minimum is just that. Minimum. If it were me, I'd look into 34's for a wagon. If you can fit them. 12.5's over 10.5s. Goodyear MTR's and BFG M/T's are good choices. Both have good on road manners. They work well on the rubicon.

Remember, rubithon is a "point a to point b" type of run. It's not like MOAB where you run different trails each day. No matter which run you do, you'll be taking the most efficient trip. I don't think you'd want to take your 60 through Little Sluice or Old Sluice. You'll have enough fun going down Big Sluice.

Do yourself a favor, and take out your rear lights at the staging area. You'll thank me later. I watched Pismo Jim take one of his out on the trail. Unless you have armor, you'll probably break at least one.

Yes, you will be assigned only one run in. I will ask you to choose your preferred choices as in 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice in case they are full, but you will end up only on one run.

Of course, here in March, nothing is full yet although the wagon run has shown the most interest as of yet.

Kevin, you are aware the reason they say only one run is that it is not a base camp style event. You will wheel all day and maybe 2 to get to the springs where you will camp til sunday exit parade if all goes well. Pack the campin gear and some tarps.

Tarps are a very good idea... keeps rain way if we are that unlucky and dust out of your gear if you wrap it like a burrito

as John notes, this is a point A to point B style trip. You will carry everything you need with you.

I believe that Rubithon is the only point A to point B type event. All others are base camp allowing folks to bring a myriad of things. Not the case here. In Rubicon Springs, if you didn't bring it, it probably does not exist. Single women is a prime example.

Registration forms are available at www.Rubithon.com

Hence the reason I pack so much chit. I try to bring it.

I still remember stories of Pat up at the meadow after a week on the Rubicon pulling out a cold 12 pack. I think that was the August Rubithon. (2004?)

Wagon Guys have it made. they can haul a ton. Gotta be careful about inviting Wagon Guys to ride in a 40. They forget how small they are

Ya, Pat can be amaxing.

'We need a rear long side axle?'
Pat (reaching into the back of his 40' Here ya go. (and I don't mean digging either"
'We need a front short axle?'
Pat (reaching into back of his 40) Here ya go.
'I need a cold beer, I'm dying!
Pat reaches in... Here ya go.

that is why you should always keep your Pat near by.
Pat is also heading up the Cadillac Hill exit strategy team this year.

Nice photo Ross...has a true Rubithon feel to it.
